My husband had to make a quick trip to Dubai for business and I was able to tag along.
We were up Thursday with the rising sun for an early morning flight.
Crochet is my choice of in-flight entertainment.
A short hour and a half flight and we were there so that meant we had the whole day ahead of us.
Although the weather was a bit hazy, that didn't stop us from enjoying a walk around the hotel grounds. There's always much to see in the way of flora and fauna ... many friendly feathered friends who are obviously used to having people around.
We made a trip to Dubai Mall; had lunch and dinner with business associates; and were able to enjoy some piano music in the hotel lobby before retiring for the evening.
On Friday, we were back at Dubai Mall for a second time to walk around outside where we worked up an appetite for our traditional meal of fish soup and sourdough bread at Nordsee.
It was then time to prepare for the return flight.
And by yesterday evening we were back home again.
Always grateful for the chance to travel and get away even for just a little while.
Travel and change of place impart new vigor to the mind.

Have a wonderful weekend.

That was a quick trip...but yes, it is great to be able to get away for a bit...
Loved hearing about your trip to Dubai. My son-in-law owns a company that is making stem cell treatments for animals and has spent a lot of time with the Prince in Dubai helping him set up a center to treat their horses and animals. My grandaughter sometimes gets to go. Not as quick a trip as yours.
Short but sweet Tammy it sounds like a lovely trip, your photos are lovely. It's good to hear that you were allowed to take a crochet hook on the plane. :) xx
I have mixed emotions, about Dubai and etc.
I enjoyed hearing about this trip Tammy. The plane shots were quite interesting, especially the lack of color in the last one. Fish soup doesn't sound good to me but my husband has had it many of times in his travels and he likes it. How fun that you can take these trips with your husband.
Blessings my friend,
Betsy
So nice that you were able to enjoy a little getaway! :)
My husband has often wanted to plan such little things but as it involves flying, he doesn't because I won't fly. I'm almost surprised they allow crochet hooks on a plane. I like the colors that you're using in that item.
A beautiful sunny day here even though it's 33 degrees outside. Typical spring, ups and downs with the temps. At least where I live, 2 good hours south of Chicago, we have different weather and didn't experience snow yesterday like they did. Thankfully, it is sunny and beautiful out and I already enjoyed my morning walk at 6:00 a.m. Now we're off and running like usual for Saturdays - out for Saturday lunch with our kids and for a bit of shopping.
Enjoy your evening,
Linda
That is quite the building in your mall shot...I'm always amazed when I see photos of it. Beautiful documentation of another fun trip, my friend. I love that you crochet on planes. I knit - I also tend to freak others out that I got knitting needles on the plane! Once I explain that it's better that I knit than have my fingernails in their arms, from white-knuckling it the whole flight, they agree knitting is ok. ;-)
Love that yarn, never seen it before.

Hi Tammy...I love to travel, too. I'm definitely due. Susan
Sounds like a fun getaway, not too long, but long enough to enjoy the novelty of being away from home.
What a neat trip getaway for you both.. just think.. if you were still with that job you would miss out! I enjoyed seeing Dubai as I know I will never get to go there. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
Thanks for sharing some of your interesting trip with us, Tammy. Traveling really does help invigorate our lives. This week Teresa drove us to Cannon Beach and back one afternoon, and I felt I had been on a wonderful vacation! xx
Cool photos. There certainly was lots to see. Glad you were able to get away for a little bit. I wonder if we can take crochet hooks or knitting needles on planes here?
Your trip sounds wonderful and restorative Tammy. So glad you had a wonderful day,
Meredith
I've been reading back through your posts this morning catching up. What a nice treat to get away with your husband, even if it was business related. Love the shots in the garden, especially the dragonfly! Wonderful :) Such an interesting building you photographed too.
Loved the wood & crochet pendants in previous post. What a wonderful and creative idea. The finished pendants are such treasures. You also made up a beautiful set for the hospital's doll ... she looks very happy to have been outfitted with such a cheerful dress and blanket!
Enjoy your day Tammy
Wendy
So nice that you got to go. Did you get to go up the world's tallest building? :) Kit
yey! To the new vigor! me and hubby have been longing to travel or have a change of settings for a long time now... It's great you had such opportunity Tammy, the food looks delicious.
By the way, they allowed crochet hooks on board?I never took them in the cabin as I thought they might object of sharp things...
Tammy- you are so fortunate to live so close to such an amazing city. Someday I would love to travel there...
