Saturday Craftivities

My Saturdays of late have been filled with lots of creative activity.
Last Saturday I did a book reading at TIES Center about keeping our environment clean.  Afterwards the kids picked up garbage and learned what could be recycled or repurposed and then created art from it.
I also taught them how to make simple God's Eyes which was a huge success and lots of fun.
Yesterday morning was spent with members of our Kuwait Crafters Group giving some of the crochet pieces at the Secret Garden a facelift.  We were able to yarnbomb another bench with the granny square contributions received for the yarnbombing event held in November.
And yesterday afternoon I was back out at the garden for arts and crafts.
More God's Eyes, drawing and planting seeds in newspaper pots.
One little girl used the wooden skewers meant for God's Eyes as knitting needles and knit a little piece that she immediately tied to one of the trees and her younger sister decided if she couldn't make a God's Eye, then she could  at least draw it.
Very inventive.

In crafting there are no mistakes, just unique creations.

Have a great day!

I love God's Eyes - how much fun is this!!! Even the drawn one in the bottom photo screams of how much fun these kids have with you. Did you get a haircut, or just pull it back for the day? Keep up the fabulous work with those little ones and that grand secret garden.

I just think you're wonderful spending time with the kids and friends to teach the younger generation how to not litter and keep your town cleaner! It's nice to be part of the solution instead of the problem. I admire you so much. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Those children are lucky to have you there! I would have enjoyed that too! I've never made a God's eye but I've seen many of them. Nor have I made a paper pot and I have never yarn bombed! I think I'm missing out! LOL! I love the trees and I bet they love all the attention. I am a "literal" tree hugger! Have a great week! Hugs to you and all your great friends and children there...and the trees!

Dearest Tammy,
What a great work you do for all those kids! They will have a seed planted into their minds that will last them a lifetime.
Lovely photos from it all and I love to see again a photo of your happy self; doing what you like most!
Clever kids and indeed, it teaches them also to stimulate the mind for always being creative. That will give happiness all through life as it is the little things that give us joy.
Yesterday the mail in Sweden did arrive (Saturday for us) so I'm anxious when it reaches the dessert.
Hugs,
Mariette

I hope you are able to see the Full Snow Moon tonight.

Wonder if this Full Moon is called by a certain name, in the part of the world, where you are? It certainly wouldn't be called Full Snow Moon, there. :-)

Gentle hugs,

Lovely how you share so much of yourself with these kids Tammy. It all looked like so much fun! The little knitter caught my attention, especially as I'm teaching my 11 year old neighbor to knit!

I have seen God's eyes before but I never knew that's what they were called. Why are they called that? I think this would be a fun craft to do with my nieces. So nice that you are showing children how to be creative and how to re-purpose things at the same time. You will be blessed.

I'm probably early due to time-zones but just wanted to wish you Happy Birthday for Friday. I hope I've got the date right - Feb. 26th? I hope you have a magical and very special day!

Love and hugs xo

This is wonderful what you all did at the reading and the children's activities will have a great impact on them, I am sure. I love darling little drawn God's Eye. So sweet. The seedling in the newspaper pots was such a cool idea Tammy!
It would be fun to be a member of your craft group...I could think of some people I would like to yarn-bomb :)))))
