I Love Yarn!

Did you know that Saturday, October 17th, was I LOVE YARN DAY?
The Craft Yarn Council began the celebration of  I Love Yarn Day in 2010 to bring about awareness of the mood boosting effects of crochet/knitting and to encourage crafters to spread the joy by "stitching it forward" ... teaching someone else to knit or crochet.

I met with the local Ravelry Group, Kuwait Crafters, for a yarny session at Starbucks.
Where Zahra's shoes matched the tiled floor.
She brought lovely Cath Kidston inspired flower coasters as gifts.
(I took the blue one.)
And I brought dishcloths for everyone.
Zahra is working on a princess blanket using the c2c method which makes no sense to me at all.
And another gal was doing the same sort of thing but with a Mario theme (lots of ends to weave in).
There was knitting and cross-stitch and detangling of yarn going on, too.
Two hours always speeds by in no time when you are chatting and crafting away.
I also received these lovely squares for The Secret Garden yarnbombing event to take place November 7th.  Lots and lots of joining to do before then.

Have a great week!

Looks like a lovely time had by all :)

My weekend involved the usual family time, country drives, some cleaning finally, walking and watching our beloved Cubs lose, which I took very badly and hard last night (I desperately wanted this for my Dad - who is turning 90 in 3 weeks). To wait to another season is unimaginable and as I told Jim, I'm about ready to just give up on watching them for good, because I become so depressed afterwards when things don't go our way.

But today is a new day, and I'm at work doing what I must and in the back of my mind, trying to get all of the plans for Dad's big party underway.

Hope you enjoy a beautiful week!

Sounds like a fun weekend! I see some really pretty pieces here. And I do think colorful yarn is a mood lifter. It even lifts my mood and I don't knit regularly. But, the colors and textures appeal to my senses. Have a great week, Tammy.

Oh my, that coaster again! It is a killer! I must copy it or it will haunt me :P
So great to have crochet friends and share / be inspiration for one another.

I just love seeing you enjoy crafting and convo with your pals like that. It really makes me wish I had such a group to enjoy crocheting and coffee with. I look forward to seeing those two new crochet squares in your yarn bombing project. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

That looks like such a fun way to spend time. You've made lovely gifts for each other. I've never heard of c2c. I'll have to look it up. The princess blanket looks so sweet.
Blessings,
Betsy

Sounds like a great time! The coasters are so pretty - I think the orange one is my favorite. It must be nice to have a group to get together with now and then for crafty entertainment :)

I did not know there is a day to celebrate yarn and knitting and crocheting. You spent time in the best way possible...gathered with friends and working yarn with hooks, needles and lots of creativity. Princess Afghan looks intriguing. Wonderful gifts swapped and I adore your flower coaster in blue.

It sounds like a lovely day out Tammy it's always fun to be with like minded people. Your coaster is so pretty. I love the c2c blankets and they are fun to make but those look quite intricate to me it's one thing making stripes but actually making a picture would take a lot of work and concentration and as you say a lot of ends to sew in too. Hope you're having a great week. :) xx
