Hello May!

What the heck happened to April!  Days seem to fly even faster as we near the end of the school year.  My oldest son takes his finals next Friday and will be finished with his first year of university.  Unbelievable!

Yesterday a vendor from the monthly farmer's market sent complimentary products to school for a few of us who follow him on Instagram @caveboygrubs.  He makes paleo and vegan foods that are amazingly delicious.  This morning for breakfast I had his dairy free coconut yogurt with his best selling granola.
And for lunch, I made a rocket salad with tomato, cucumbers, beets and walnuts, a homemade honey mustard dressing and homemade walnut bread that I topped with the complimentary dill & beet root nut spread.  Really, really good!
Last night I crocheted some bowls loosed basely on this pattern.  Funny thing is, after the first one, I thought I had the pattern memorized but they all turned out different sizes. Ha! Oh well, that's okay.  I don't need them all to be the same.  And they turned out to be nesting bowls even though I didn't follow the pattern for that purpose.
The brown and the red yarn are felting wool which I have never used before.  After I took this picture, I did wash the red bowl but can't really tell a difference in how it looks and it certainly didn't shrink.  I don't think the water was hot enough and unfortunately, don't always have control over the water temperature here, no matter what setting I use on the washing machine.
Our weather has been hot and somewhat dusty over the past several days.  Still so happy to see that I do have some blooms on the balcony when I go out there to water.  I need to remember to keep the door closed when Jingles is out there early morning and at night as I've seen a very large lizard running around.
On a sad note, last Friday night, my boss rushed back to Canada as he learned that his brother had a brain bleed that required immediate surgery.  He didn't know the details at the time, but I've learned now that his brother had just finished a meeting with the Department of Agriculture where he worked and as he scooped up his laptop and papers and wheeled around to exit the room, he stumbled somehow hitting his head on a piece of furniture.  His wife was able to speak to him at the hospital and he said he was okay but just had a really bad headache.  Unfortunately, he did not make it.  They took him off the respirator on Sunday and he passed away surrounded by 30 family members singing Amazing Grace.

I do wonder, was he rushing to another meeting, did he need to be somewhere else quickly?  Such a tragic and freak accident.  He was only in his late 50s.

We are having a quiet weekend at home.   No plans, no running around, no responsibilities.  Just the way I like it after a busy week.
Have a fabulous Friday

Happy May to you, I agree the days just seem to fly by so quickly. The walnut bread sounds delicious as does your other foods. So sad to me how many young pass on so young and others like my Mom had a good life but now has to spend time in a home with dementia, otherwise in perfect health in her mid 80s--no answers to all that-so we must enjoy every day we have--

That's so sad about your boss's brother. :( How horrible.
Sounds like you'll be spending your weekend just as you like and that's good.
My weekends are always busy (by choice) because everything I'm doing right now is in preparation for the gigantic Graduation Party that we're hosting for our daughter and her friend (and friend's family) just 3 weeks from now. 70 people will be at our small house, so we're certainly hoping that the weather warms up here by then!! It's been cloudy and cool the past many days, since our last nice warm spell. It feels more like March weatherwise than May here, but the weather forecast is showing warmth to return very soon and not soon enough for my liking!! :)

I hope you have an enjoyable weekend,
Linda

First year of college done! Didn't that fly by? Will he be coming home for the summer?

I'm sorry to hear of your boss's brother. That is how my mother-in-law passed away, but she had a blood illness that gave her a low platelet count, which didn't help. She had three brain surgeries in four days to try to stop the bleeding before we had to give up. It was all very sudden and very difficult on all of us. It does seem extra sad that it happened to a healthy, relatively young man.

Oh my, your food looks delicious as always.
Love how the bowls nest. The felting thing you can do by hand with hot water and lots of sqeezing. A fun therapeutic activity, great for stress release.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

That's such a tragic and sad story about your boss' brother!

On a better note...your breakfast and lunch look and sound great...and very healthy too.

I like your little bowls. They're so cute and I bet they were fun to make. That's cool that some of them work as nesting bowls too. That's weird how that yarn didn't felt.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Hi Tammy, I love the little bowls and to think they have ended up nesting is a bonus, lol
Sad about your bosses brother. I have heard so much bad news just lately regarding illness in younget people. We should all be so grateful if we are in good health. Sometimes we forget this.
Enjoy your weekend

So sorry to hear of your boss' brother. It's hard to hit your head and create a fatal bleed from a fall to the ground. Makes me wonder if the bleed came first, causing him to fall?? No matter, it certainly causes one to pause and realize how fleeting life is. Treasure your weekend moments!

Dearest Tammy,
Your yummy food photos are a great inspiration for eating healthy.
The crocheted baskets are lovely and I had to read your line about your eldest son finishing his first year at university 'twice'... Remember you just wrote about him starting. Time is crazy.
What a sad accident your boss's brother had. If it only was because he rushed himself, it is too bad as it is not worth it... So sorry for his family.
Enjoy every day, every moment as time and life passes so quickly.
Hugs,
Mariette

Prayers and Healing Energy for the family. So sad...so young. We really do need to enjoy every moment of every day. Your meals look delicious. Love seeing the flowers. Jingles sounds to be quite pacified and amused with a lizard to entertain. Fabulous crocheted bowls that will be very useful and make great gifts. Good to use yarn stash too. Blessings Dear...

I enjoyed your pictures of the yummy food. You always seem to eat so healthily-a true inspiration for me. I'm so sorry to hear about your bosses brother. So sad and tragic. After hitting my head last weekend, I worried about having something similar. I've never experienced a headache
Iike I've had this week. It's very scary, but obviously I didn't have anything as severe happen. It goes to show how quickly things can happen and that we need to be thankful for everyday with our loved ones.
Blessings,
Betsy

So sad! Unbelievably, that is the second time in recent days I've heard about a simple stumble resulting in a fatal head injury. Sounds so impossible. Condolences to your boss and his family.

Tammy, I forgot to say - I love your little bowls. I've had very good luck felting small items (hats and mittens) in a 5-gallon bucket, using a plunger (one dedicated to this use, I hasten to say!) to create the agitation. Easy to check progress, too. I was surprised how long it took to completely felt an item on purpose...when I felted my handknit boot socks in the washing machine, seemed to take no time at all ;)

Time really has flown. Too hot to do anything here in the summer so Yusef will not be coming back. He finished exams on Friday and started summer school yesterday. Zack and I will go to the States for the month of July. Have a great week. Tammy
