Friday Food

Today was the perfect staying in kinda day.
Drab and dusty outside but nice and cozy inside. I did a bit of cleaning.  A little crocheting.  And a whole lot of playing in the kitchen.
It is absolutely amazing what you can  do with nuts.  Today I tried my first cashew alfredo.  The recipe is actually called Very Vegan Mac-n' Cheeze but the results I got turned out more like an alfredo sauce.  Really, really good!
I've started baking my own bread every weekend.  Small loaves that I can eat and share.
I made walnut tarragon again which goes great with the beetroot & dill nut spread and olive tapenade I got from two lovely people here I met through Instagram.
And since the oven was already on, I figured I might as well make good use of that heat and bake a cake.
Yum!
Perfect with the chocolate coffee my cousin gave me over the summer.
Besides what's pictured, I also made quinoa topped with curried vegetables and had that for dinner.
Now to don my pajamas and do some crochet.
Hope you all have a fabulous Friday (or Saturday depending on where you are in the world).
Best wishes,

You certainly have a creative bent to your food preparations. My mother was whiz in the kitchen but unfortunately it didn't pass down to me. Your photos are very pleasurable to view. -- barbara

Wow, you have been busy in the kitchen. Everything looks so yummy.
How interesting to know that you can make an alfredo sauce from cashews. I am going to check out that recipe.
Enjoy your weekend.

I would love to dine with you Tammy - your cooking/baking is so exciting and healthy, you make me want a bite of everything! The bread looks awesome. Although we are meatless we still indulge in everything else - mainly because Bob is not too interested in going vegan, gluten-free, macrobiotic etc. I would if I was just preparing food for moi!!

What are you crocheting these days dear? In that pursuit you also come up with beautiful items too!

Have a great weekend - Mother's Day here on Sunday - a happy one to you.
Hugs - Mary

The vegan Mac N Cheez sounds so delicious! A hearty post full of yummy and healthy food. Well done on baking your own bread....the toppings sound yummy too. I baked the occasional loaf of bread many years ago using a breadmaker but that's it. Have a beautiful weekend....sometimes, those staying in kinda days are just what we need. xo

Dearest Tammy,
You were quite in the mood for being highly productive in the kitchen!
Thank you so much for sharing that recipe about Vegan Mac N' Cheeze! We are fortunate for even getting cashew meal here at Trader Joe's. That will work fabulous.
Your bread looks yummy and so does everything coming from your hands.
Hugs,

Tammy, I think you have the same flair for food that you have for decorating your home! A thoughtful blend of unusual things and ordinary things, complementing each other in a visually delightful way. :)
