Flower Pot Pens

While visiting our son's college campus this summer, I noticed that all of the offices had these pretty flowers in sweet little pots.  The catch was, they weren't just your ordinary flowers.
I started seeing them at the bank, the computer store, and everywhere, so decided I would make some of my own once I got back home.
I bought the florists tape from WalMart and the other necessary supplies were purchased here.
Pretty flowers ...
 that are actually pens.
I gifted these to a couple of my friends in the front office at school.
And these two were given to the ladies in the high school office who were so excited because now no one can walk away with their pens.
They were so easy to make so now I need to work on some for the ladies in the middle school and elementary offices.
To continue with the flower theme, these were all pictures taken while in the States this summer.
Aaaahhhh ... so beautiful!
Our weather here in Kuwait has been so humid for the past week.
Today is dreary, dusty, blah and so very hot.
Happy Friday!

What a cute idea! They turned out really well. I bet the ladies were excited to get them! It definitely makes it harder for people to walk off with their pens now. Especially boys haha.

You are so kind to make all these lovely flowers for your co-workers. Love all the pics of flowers.

We too have experienced humidity and monsoons recently. Lots of dust in the air and a few full blown dust storms have rolled in. Temps still well above 100. Not to fallish here.

Hi Tammy

Glad you are back home and back into crafting routine too!! Soothes and brings in peace.

Tammy! Thanks a lot for the pleasant surprise. YES. I RECEIVED YOUR GIFT. So sweet of you. The crocheted dish cloth is very pretty. I will not use it as a dish cloth. I will keep it and use it elsewhere. Want to preserve it as a rememberance. Small gifts that too handmade are precious.

Have a nice weekend....

Taking it a little further, I suppose you could make crochet flowers and tape them on to pens.

We see these all over around here in doctors offices, etc. It's a great idea and yours turned out really pretty. I'm sure all of your friends will want a pretty pot of pens now! Hmmm. Maybe you've found a new cottage industry for your area!
Blessings,
Betsy

I've never seen those pens before here. Cute!

Nice photos.

Weather remains hot here in central Illinois as well and looks to continue for a while. Pretty typical September weather really. Glad we keep our backyard pool opened long past the public ones here. We'll be using it this weekend.

I see the flower pens in lots of places around here, because it keeps the pens from 'walking' away accidently. LOL
They are really cute and a great gift too. Love your flower pics too.
We are still in the 90's and have actually had rain, so now it's like a sauna. LOL Better than no rain I guess.:)

What do you mean you're not crafting? Look at those lovely flower pens! They have been around for years actually and started to keep people from taking pens in stores etc. I never thought of making my own! You are so brilliant!
Your girlfriend Val sounds like a fun person to hang out with and I loved her mosaic and the yarn bombing! I wold be exhausted if I was away from home for that long! I'm just an old "fuddy-duddy" now and love staying home. I think my "travelin' days" are over.
Get that yarn out this weekend...did I ask you if you've looked on Pinterest? Oh my....I get on there and hours go by there is so much goodness out there and inspiration...I love it! TTYL!

We see these 'flower pens' so often that it never occurred to me that it was a US kinda trend! Our Post Office has them, the doctors office, and the banks. I love that you went back and made them for your friends so that the trend continues worldwide! Although I should tell you that they CAN 'walk away'!!!
:)

Dearest Tammy,
Sorry for your harsh transition of weather differences with your visit to the USA. Those pens are lovely; you took a great idea home with you.
Certain flowers are such strong and vivid memories of the 'other' continent...
Hugs to you,
Mariette

This is such a cute idea! People must get a surprise when they are handed a flower pen straight out of the pot at the front desk ;) I could go for another few weeks of hot 'n muggy, but we're cooling off quicker than I'd like! Wendy

Your flower pens turned out beautifully and really brighten a work desk. Our doctor's office now has bright pink duct tape created into the flowers with green duct tape leaves. Very labor intensive I say. Your floral photos are lovely. Blissful week dear...

What a cute idea. My art pencils keep disappearing and so I had to put threatening little messages on them. "you take my art pencil, your life will be changed forever." Since the notes were rather large my family has opted for the pot of #2 pencils I left close by. Ha. Maybe I should consider flowers next time. I think the fellas would leave them alone, don't you.

I made a pot full of flower pens for our school secretary one year for Secretary Day. They were such a hit, that students who were graduating wanted one as a keepsake...LOL Yours are lovely! Kit

Hi Tammy- these are as cute as they can be. I've always kind of admired them too. They look so cute in your display and really are wonderful little gifts.

I hope your son is getting settled in his new school-- I know you miss him so much. He is going to do just fine--- and so are you:)
