Another Abandoned One

I was already in the car this morning when my oldest son came down and said "did you see the black cat in the stairwell?"  I hadn't!  But there she was, waiting for us when we got home from school today. She was sleeping in my outside kitty's bed and eating her food, but the good thing is that outside kitty now roams during the day and only comes back to sleep at night.  This kitty has a hurt paw and a cold, like the previous white Persian I rescued (who has been named Lilly and will be winging her way to Canada for adoption very soon).
I just hate that there are breeders who keep selling these Persians to families who think they are so sweet and adorable when they are kittens and then throw them out at the first sign of sickness or just because they've become a nuisance after about a year.  I don't understand how anyone can just toss them into the street to fend for themselves.
Jingles is afraid of the big outdoors.  She will only venture out onto the balconies where she feels safe.  She doesn't like the doors to be closed on her because she likes to know that she can get back inside at any time.
When these poor kitties come to me, I feel like they are weary travelers looking for respite.
My youngest son says that the cats have their own broadcast and they say "Hey, there's a crazy lady who will feed you if you show up at her place."

I don't mind being the crazy cat lady.

Awwww....such a sweetie! It's so sad when pets are abandoned. It breaks the heart. But knowing there are beautiful big hearted people like you out there makes it a little easier.

Big hugs for you Tammy!

Oh my dear Cat-Lady (NOT crazy, but wonderful!), the world would be much, much poorer without heart-humans like you and I am very happy for the cats that you save them! Warm hugs to you, dear Tammy! xox Traude

You have a soft, beautiful heart Tammy. I'm so glad they end up with you even though you must have your heart broken so many times. I'll keep you and the kitties in my prayers. Diane

Cats do know who loves them and who doesn't. It's a 6th or 7th or whatever sense. I've seen it in mine... and like you, I can't understand people who throw away their pets. Mine are part of my family, my most reliable friend and she's always here for me. Even if she is very independent too and doesn't like being held...
They deserve our respect. Absolutely!
Have a wonderful week XXX

Hey "crazy cat lady" ... you are an angel, that's what you really are.

You are wonderful to do that and you are not "crazy"...you're the sane one in a crazy world. I wish I could take in more pets but now that I'm retired I can barely afford the 2 I have if I want to take care of them properly. They are both spayed and they get their shots and also good food and heart medicine and tick and flea medicine monthly. Plus, they get their "treats" daily. They were both "adopted". Between their meds and mine it gets a little pricey! LOL! I have to have some money left over for yarn! Ha! Ha!
You are a great lady with a big heart and I'm proud to know you!

You are doing good work. From reading your post I am sure this kitty will find a good home and get the care she needs.

I read these heartbreaking stories of strays all the time. I have 3 rescued kitties in my home. Guess I am a crazy cat lady too!

Thankfully there are kind and loving cat people such as you Tammy..........it's not an easy job. Hard not to to love and care for those who are kicked out, dropped off or just abandoned in very cruel ways. Your latest addition looks like such a sweetie - but who will pay the vet bills if it needs medical care?

Mariette VandenMunckhof-Vedder said...

Dearest Tammy,

It is a crime if anyone adopts a kitten, making it dependable and than abandoning it. Probably never giving it the veterinary care they need, just like little babies and infants. But it tells a lot about the people that do this to animals and I doubt if they will treat humans kindly?!
They look so hopeful...
Glad that the other rescued persion will wing to Canada! Great job and we sure must keep looking out for the poor innocent creatures. My hope is that those same humans that cause this will once re-incarnate and come back as a stray cat themselves! Would close the circle perfectly.
Love to you,

Mariette

Tammy you have such a kind heart and I thank you for what you are doing.
We had a lovely little cat come right in through the cat flap the other day, luckily he had a telephone number on his collar and we were able to locate his owners.....shame because he was a beautiful tortoiseshell and I would have kept him.
Jingles is wise to keep to his balcony, as long as he is happy that's all that matters.

You're so sweet.

Occasionally, the neighborhood cats which I suspect are wild, but maybe they belong to someone, stroll through our yard, but I don't feed them because I don't want them hanging around and also whenever there's been a friendly one, I'm too afraid to pet it because of the fear of bringing in some sort of a germ to Winston. Winston is strictly an indoor cat, except that he does sit in the screened windows, and very occasionally, we will carry him out on his leash to sit in our lap. But that's the extent of his "outdoor" adventures. And yet, he somehow caught a really bad sinus infection over the winter and I finally took him to the vet and she gave him a shot and some pills (which Sarah gave to him daily). He is all better now, and so I don't want the neighborhood cats strolling through our yard or coming near the windows.

Thank goodness for sweet people like you to care for them. :)

Blessings always,
Linda

aaah, this one looks so cute! Well, crazy cat lady, I think you are doing a great job, at least they get something to eat and a place to rest, don't understand people not treating animals with respect and love...
Hope this one will heal soon, take care sweets, Maureen

I follow a lot of Animal Rescue pages on Facebook and it's heartbreaking how people can discard their animals like garbage. I have cried many tears over some of the stories. People truly need to neuter/spay and stop breeding animals when there are so many precious souls in animal shelters crying out for loving, forever homes. I am thrilled to hear that the white Persian you rescued will be heading to Canada soon. I LOVE happy endings!

As for this poor new cat that has found a place near under your stairwell...I am so glad it has found safety.

THANK YOU for being the 'crazy' lady although I see you as an Angel for these strays ~ xo
