Two Weeks from Today

I had a feeling the summer holiday would fly by this year, but I didn't realize just how fast.

We enjoyed our 10-day trip to Nepal ... from swimming at the hotel pool, to visiting temples ...

and monasteries ...

riding ...

hiking ...

feasting on Nepalese cuisine ...

seeing a dance show ...

chatting with street vendors ...

shopping ...

and stopping for refreshment.

To sit in the shade on a fine day and look upon verdure is the most perfect refreshment. Jane Austen

In exactly two weeks from today, I will head back to my admin job at school. I had a to-do list at the beginning of the summer of all the things I wanted to get done, but I've not accomplished a thing. Instead, I am doing a whole lot of this ...

Trying new recipes (Apples and Pears posted a recipe for Yoghurt Pot Cakes; I like the simplicity of the recipe; added vanilla, dried cranberries and coconut to the mix) ...

and enjoyed them with coffee this morning. There is no shade here. At 10 am this morning, the temperature was already up to 109 degrees. It is now a balmy 118 degrees.

The rat race will begin soon enough, so until then, I will relax and not feel guilty about what is left undone.

Hope you are having a wonderful weekend. Friendship blessings, Tammy

How wise you are not to let those things worry you. You have enjoyed the summer and that is such a good thing. Love the vacation photos. Our kids go back to school Aug. 3rd,They have a lot of missed snow days to make up. Blessings

Looks like your family had a great time this summer. How in the world do you survive 118 degree weather?

You've had a very busy summer. So glad you have been able to spend time with family and also work on some crafts and cooking. I love those little crocheted bags. The colors are wonderful.

Sounds like you've had a wonderful vacation. I'm sure kitty will be glad to have family home and on schedule again! Too bad about your principle. Boston will be there next year (I ran it twice). Family always comes first.
I miss the international school scene! Such excitement and newness every year with all the comings and goings.

It DOES fly fast
and sometimes the
best thing to have
on our summer to-do
list is "Do nothing!"
I wish I would be
able to stick to a
resolution like that,
but it's worth having
it at the back on our
minds, at least. Enjoy
these last weeks, T!

Wow, what a great summer, Tammy!!! It looks like you had so much fun!!! It has rained here for literally 2 months...awful weather. But, yesterday when my husband came home, it was clear and we went to the beach near Biloxi!! Yay! It was so beautiful. I finally saw summer!

What an amazing world you live in. If it makes you feel any better, it's supposed to be 100 here today. This has been a record-breaking summer for us & not much fun. I just keep watering & sweating. Love your pictures. Jan

As you know, this is the time I dread. I don't do well during times of change. Every start to the school year is the same for me, but we manage. Sarah is up bright and early tomorrow and my Dad will drop her off at the high school for the start of Marching Band camp which runs for 2 weeks and then her school starts on the 17th. Temps are remaining at 100, so it will be rough for her marching all day outside with the band, but it goes with the territory. :)

Hope you enjoy your remaining time off. For me, it's work as usual tomorrow. :P

Your pot cakes look yummy! May have to try a hand at these. Glad you had such a wonderful time in Nepal, looks like a wonderful place to vist. Again, thanks for taking us along. And soon to back to work. Where does the time go? Oh yes, the crocheted bag, they are lovely. I'm thinking I should make some up to have on hand, what great gifts! Have a wonderful next two weeks full of blessings and joy.

You've certainly been keeping busy so, while you may not have done what you had planned to do on your list, you certainly have accomplished a lot regardless. Your crochet pouches are lovely!

Hi Tammy, It looks to me like you've had a great summer so far! Your trips have been beautiful to watch courtesy of blog land.

I want to make those yogurt pot cakes and have copied the recipe. What does she mean when she refers to "one measure"???

Your summer is flying. Reality hits when we realize it's only so much time until ... The little bowl on my blog came from South Africa. Just as I was to board the plane there was a small shop by the gate and I was able to use my small remaining cash on this little bowl that I love so much!

Dearest Tammy,

Jingles is enjoying her nap-time too! If we look at cats, we all ought to relax and play a lot more... But I don't blame you, enjoy what you do and than start all over with the rat-race. That makes you look forward to the next outing. You all got fantastic memories.

Lots of love,

Mariette

Are there ever enough days in our summer. Seems like we always do something other than we planned but at least you still accomplished something.
OMG...this song reminds me of summer when I was a teenager, hanging out at our pool. Loved this song.
Thanks for the lovely gifts and yogort pot cakes...I think that's what you gave me...really hit the spot. Have a great day sweetie and Ramadan Kareem.
