Not Just Quilts

I love the look of crazy quilts (even though I never finished the block I started months ago).

But quilts were not the only items to be found at the Textile Exhibition.

Sadu weavings were on display.

Along with knitted and crocheted pieces. The prayer shawl on the right was knitted by my friend, Kathy, and won her a second place ribbon.

A first place ribbon was found on this embroidered stitchwork piece and rightly so. It was absolutely amazing!

Since Tuesday's electrical storm, we've had mostly hazy days with high dust.

The sun isn't able to do its thing but it's still hot, hot, hot. But hey, it cools down to 90 at night. Ha! Hope you are having a cool and relaxing day! Best wishes and blessings, Tammy

Hi Tammy....Actually, it IS a cool day today. I'm sitting here at the kitchen table with the door open...cool air is coming in through the screen. A slight scent of lilacs can be detected, too. They are in a vase on the kitchen counter. Soooo pretty. Hope your Sunday was good. I think it's just about over for you but on this side of the world, we still have the afternoon and evening to go! Take care, Tammy. Susan

Dearest Tammy,

It seems that women in your region are quite industrious when it comes to handwork. I love that idea!
From all the works, I do love your pastel crochet work... looks so soft and pretty!
Hope the weather will soon be more forgiving and pleasant for its humans.

Lots of love,

Mariette

A lovely peek at the exhibition Tammy.
The Sadu weaving catches my eye - although it looks like a lifetime project or maybe it could be a shared one!!!!
I want to try crazy quilting one day too, meantime I'm just trying to master my embroidery craze!!
Hugs

Hi, thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving such a lovely comment. Your climate is so different to mine. Your blog is really lovely, enjoyed reading your posts. Jingles is a cutie, my boys couldn't cope over there with their long fur I'd be forever sponging them down. Have a great week, love Sharon

Goodmorning Tammy!
It's supposed to thunderstorm in a few hours, but there is just enough time to go out walking....perhaps for a quick sketch and a cup of coffee!

Thanks so much for your visits! I always smile when I see you've been by.

THE LAST EMBROIDERED PIECE LOOKS INTERESTING...THE MIXING OF ART AND FABRICS...GORGEOUS!

Ciao Bella!
Try to stay cool, I cannot imagine it being 90 out at night!!

Beautiful textiles! I have no talent or patience for doing such things but they are indeed beautiful creations.

Hot and humid this week but of course never anything like your temperatures. I'm enjoying it.

Hope you have a wonderful new week :)

Beautiful pieces! My brother is looking for some art to hang in his living room. He is looking for frames, but something like this would be equally wonderful! I might through the idea in ;o) maybe something from local hands?
It is humid and sticky around here. It rained on Saturday, but not enough to cool things down, yet, it caused quite some damaged south of the country. Weird weather!!
have a great day!
