Simple Pleasure: Outdoor spaces

Here we are! Another Thursday! In a new month! And another chance for Simple Pleasures with Dayle.

Project Simple Pleasures2

I live in Kuwait which is basically a concrete jungle built in the desert.

While I love the outdoors and nature, conditions here are not always conducive to outdoor living. Because of that, I sometimes feel like a caged bird.

While many have luscious gardens and places to roam, I am ever so thankful for the two balconies that we have. One is off our tv room and one is off our bedroom.

Yes, they can be hard to maintain when those nasty dust storms surface.

But at least when I look out my windows, I see green. And pink! Moss roses grow beautifully in this climate.

As winter arrives at your doorstep, our weather is just beginning to change. It is beginning to feel a bit like Fall. A time to reap the benefits of planting. And for that I am truly grateful!

I adore simple pleasures. They are the last refuge of the complex.

Have a terrific Thursday! Friendship blessings, Tammy

Dear Tammy...I really think you could turn the grayest, most concrete-y (is that a word?) place into a place of comfort and beauty...your lovely attitude and outlook are so wonderful, my friend!

I hope you're having a beautiful day!

Julie

Your balconies are a delight and it must be difficult a times to keep them looking so pretty. Do you have to clean up all that dust?
I'll try and post some pics of English outdoors for you.
Have a great and peaceful day with a few 'Simple Pleasures'.
Smiles, Angela.

Just like Julie said, you have a way of making things beautiful. It is nice to have some green in the desert, isn't it? You're such a world traveler though, you get to see some of the world's most beautiful scenery!
Blessings,
Marcia

Tammy, your post touched my heart. I know it must be hard to live surrounded by cement, but what a wonderful job you've done, making your balconies come alive with nature's bounty. Your plants are just beautiful, and what a perfect simple pleasures post.

You've created a refuge from the storm and it's lovely...loving colorful flowers and the dove!

Hello Tammy, I enjoyed seeing your pretty flowers in the desert. I've never seen moss roses before. They are lovely. You are blessed with the grace to see beauty that might otherwise be obscured by the 'crowd' in a greener land!
God is good! blessings..Trish

I'm not sure I could live in a desert with no water or green plants around. Wonderful that you can have your small areas of greenery around you.

Tammy,, thanks for visiting me today. I loved how you said, Stop and drink the coffee or smell the roses :) (I LOVE COFFEE) I went back and caught up on your blog...Geez, I can't believe I hadn't been over to your blog since your anniversary! Sorry, wasn't ignoring you at all! Loved your little crocheted pumpkins and can't believe you are still in the 90's. Our low has been 24, lots of frost. Your blog is such a blessing to read, I just love it... You have such a joyful way about life and love. Congrats on your anniversary ♥

I enjoyed your post. There is nothing better than finding joy in the simple things in life. Your balcony garden is lovely. Hope you have a wonderful day! Heather

Lovely!

I also grew Moss Roses in my summer garden but alas, they are all gone now - everything killed by the many frosts/freezes. Still, it's green though. :)

Hope you have a wonderful end to the week,
Linda

I know this must be refreshing to look out and see your patio and the beautiful flowers. The moss rose (I am envious) it does grow beautifully there! Thanks for stopping by Places of My Heart.

Hi, Tammy! I love your post and appreciate your stopping by mine too. I think you could grow the Malabar Spinach easily... it is actually in the same plant family as your moss roses! So it's semi-succulent, able to manage your dry air. Just needs wetter soil than the moss rose, no problem if you use a container.
(If it isn't illegal or anything, I would be thrilled to mail you some seeds. Just visit the "Feedback Zone" page at the top of my blog and email me your mailing address.)

Hello Tammy, I can imagine how much the greenery on your balcony means to you. I love the countryside and open spaces and would miss them if I had to leave them behind for any reason. I've just enjoyed reading your blog. It's fun to see into other people's worlds isn't it? Those little crocheted pumpkins are so sweet. Kathleen.

having a green outdoor space is truly a blessing! that one often gives for granted. I love the pick moss roses! have I told you those are rather popular around here? especially in areas that get little maintenance? nature is so beautiful! even in the most severe conditions, it manages to surface; even if it is only a small and tiny plant.
have a great day!

I love that quote, Tammy! I'm glad you have a little garden to enjoy. The bunnies and dear eat a lot of what I plant - I guess I will just need to plant more next year! :)

Happy day to you,
Zuzu

Tammy, Your life is so interesting. I think it would be the green that I would miss most; but I think I take if for granted here, and I wouldn't there. The thought of balconies is very romantic. Always such fun to visit here! Elizabeth

Hello Tammy
How lovely to hear about what grows on your balcony - I couldn't survive without a wee garden and if I lived where you are I would do the same as you!!!
I was amazed at he Moss roses, I'm a bit of a rose freak and know that the moss originated in Holland. I imagine the beautiful damasks would do well in the desert climate too - they have the most heavenly perfume.

I've just done a rose post and I'd love for you to come and visit and read it - I'll make you a thirst quenching iced tea while you peruse my blog!!!
Take care dear Tammy

My dear friend, you have a lovely way of making even the concrete that is Kuwait look lovely. Your flowers are just fantastic, and I know they bring you great joy to see a bit of green and color. Temps are starting to cool down here a bit too, and that alone makes everything look just a bit nicer. People are starting to get outside to walk. Hopefully, that will be me at some point...
Enjoy your weekend and the beauty that is your balcony!

Love,
Renee
