It's Been One of Those Days

I donned my chauffeur hat for this day. I have been to school and back home. From home to baseball where I dropped Zack and then back to school to pick up Yusef. Back home for a quick, late lunch, and then back to baseball for Zack. Then, one last trip to school again for the first band concert of the year. Only the 9th grade choir (6 students) performed and the 10th grade band (which most of Yusef's friends are in). Do you know how hard it is to get a 15 year old to take a picture with his mom?

I think we are both having bad hair days! HA!

The first instrumental of the evening was a solo played by Senior Ademiwalore Mojiminiyi who played the Marimba.

Demi, as they call him, is from Nigeria and a fabulous musician.
The 10th Grade Band played Regal March, Sahara, and Battle of the Samurai (which turned out to be a really fun song with hand clapping and sound effects).

Yusef is still playing the trombone. It wasn't his instrument of choice but he seems to be doing well with it.

This is the first time I've sat down at home today and it is 10:00 pm. All the boys are in bed and that's where I'm heading after I get school uniforms out of the dryer. Even Jingles is already sleeping!

I hope your week is off to a great start. Friendship blessings, Tammy

You tired me out just reading about all the trips to and fro. Sounds like this was a fabulous concert. Have a great evening...hugs and blessings.

My brother and I learned to play Marimba (wooden one, which happens to be Guatemala's national instrument) when we were very little (around 6-7 and my brother two years younger) and used to give recitals. There's a picture somewhere. The cute and fun part was that we were so little, we had to use stools to reach the marimba! I wish I could come back to it...it was fun.
Busy day, huh?! to say the least...wishing you some resting time!

Oh we've had days like that! I think you both look adorable, and yes I know how hard it is to get a 15 year old to do anything with his mom and especially with a smile on his face! sweet dreams, Theresa xoxo

Dearest Tammy,

Don't ever put yourself down like having a bad hair day. You're very honest, sincere and make a loving mother & son picture! Just a slice of life; exactly as it came off that day...
Aren't you proud to have them all home and sleeping and having performed well too?! That's the walk of life for the young teenagers and they will love it and share those memories for years to come.

Have a great week!

Love from Georgia,

Hihi - oh yes, Tammy, I know how hard it is to get a 15 year old to take a picture with mom: My 3 nephews didn't like it with 15 and my daughter didn't like it, too. But now my nephews are grown ups and my daughter is 17, so there are no photo-problems any more. One day your son will be very proud of the picture which was taken today - it will remember him to a great concert-day! And you managed everything very well - congratulations to you!
Warm hugs, spleep well (and say hi to Jingles when she's awake :o))

WHEW, you are making ME tired! Ah, the life of a mom with teenagers is full of events. I can relate to that back when I had kids at home. Never a dull moment.
The concert sounded lovely. So much talent there!!!
Poor Jingles. SO ready to call it a night!

I'm proud to know you, Mom. The boys will have great memories of all you are doing for them. And the picture is worth a million bucks.

Enjoy these precious moments with you kiddos! I find that they are slipping by with each day. Have a wonderful, hopefully less hectic, week!

You can keep up with me and my hectic schedule if you keep having days like yesterday. And yet somehow, you managed to get it all done. Good for you for staying busy and getting the boys to where they needed to go.
The concert looks wonderful. It sure looks like you have a lot of talent there. Yusef looks good playing the trombone.
Hope you get a chance to relax a bit today!

Love,
Renee

Thank you for sharing these with us Tammy. I really enjoyed them. My 15yo daughter doesn't like to have her picture taken either :-)

I was just thinking today about this "busyness" of life we are in, and then I thought of an old song by Mac Davis called "Watching Scotty Grow" about his son at 4yo. I realized that those days are already past, and these will be past far too soon too. It does get hectic at times though, doesn't it?
Blessings,
Marcia

Although Jake has his permit and my taxi days are almost over I know I will miss them as soon as they are gone!

Our concert days have just begun since Santa came early and Jake got drums!
