Block Printing

One of the traditional crafts of Jaipur is block printing.

We were given a demonstration of how each block is dipped in a different color natural dye ...

and stamped on the material.

Each block is like a puzzle piece ...

that creates a color pattern.

The finished piece is then dipped in a vinegar solution which totally changes the color of the final product.

We were given these two prints free.

And I bought these small blocks so I could try my hand at printing on cards or small pieces of material.

Will have to put it on my to-do list as right now I am just trying to keep up with school work and housework. Hope everyone has a wonderful week. Peace & blessings, Tammy

Oh, those are amazing! And your new block stamps are wonderful. Each of them is so pretty and I know you'll make some lovely cards with them! Had no idea that vinegar would change the colors of those prints. Who knew? I could have spent a ton of money in that shop!!

Have a great week.

Very cool!!! and very pretty stamps! how lucky! It's rather difficult to find stamps around here; I think people are not into letter writing, card making/sending, or crafts much in this country. Whenever I find some, I literally throw myself at them! :-) I have a small collection now :-) mainly about Autumn (which doesn't exist here) and Christmas of course :-)
do share with us when you make a card or a project with them!
have a lovely day!

Kind of like Stampin' Up!!! Just more primitive, I guess you would say.... Those blocks are actually beautiful as just a decoration.

Once again, I am in awe of the talent these men have for creating something beautiful. The patience they must have is incredible, and I am pretty sure that each one turns out a tiny bit different. Fantastic. I am looking forward to seeing what you can do with your blocks!!

Love,
Renee
