Crafting Days of Summer

Did you know that Friday the 12th was World Cross-stitch Day?I stitched and photographed the above for a post to our Kuwait Crafters Instagram account.

And stitched a small design from Gaza that is documented in the book Palestinian Embroidery. On Saturday, 6 of us gathered for crafting in public ... something we've not done in quite awhile.  (We are hoping to start up our regular craft meetings again next month.)Zhraa on the far left is the one who crocheted the granny square sweater for me that I posted about before.  Saturday was the first time I wore it and I really do love it so much.

And speaking of granny squares.

Yesterday was Granny Square Day hosted by @simplycrochetmag over on Instragram.  The bottom left are the squares that some of our Kuwait Crafters posted last year, and the above right is from this year.  Bottom right are some of the traditional squares (my favorite) that I made over the weekend and yesterday I crocheted the Flora Granny Square designed by Lucy at Attic24

I miss walking but it's currently 11:18 a.m. and 104 degrees (with a high expected of at least 110 F) so indoor crafting is the best thing to do this time of year.

Good morning, to be truthful I have never been big on the look of granny squares, but Wow I really love your top very much. It is really lovely and looks good on you. your craft group sounds really fun and a great way to share and visit with friends too.

Dear Tammy, no, I didn't even know there was a World Cross-stitch Day! :-) Your small design from Gaza looks very nice. I'm glad you were finally able to meet again. The granny square sweater is great! I'm already looking forward to the less hot days - then I want to start crocheting a jacket. (If I have sweaty fingers, I lose the fun of handicrafts ;-))
All the best and hugs from here

Dearest Tammy,
Happy to see you meeting again and you wear that crocheted sweater so graciously!
Depending on the humidity it is rather hot for being outdoors.
Even though, we've been on our 11–day drive often in such hot weather but mostly with lower humidity levels and that doesn't bother us.
Stay well and focus on your crafting; a perfect balance for our soul.
Hugs,
Mariette

Tammy - not sure how I always miss these important days!! Smile. I would have had the perfect excuse to sit and stitch all day! So happy for you that your craft group is getting back together. The granny squares with the progression from white to dark blue are very attractive. Speaking of which, you look terrific in your sweater! Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

August 24....Hi Tammy. I love your cross stitching. It is truly an art form with you. Thanks so much for your visits and comments. Whenever I see that you have stopped by, I feel happy! Hope all is well with you and yours. What are both boys up to now? Is one still in Colorado and one in Albany? Susan
