Sighting of the crescent moon last night marked the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan ... a time for prayer, reflection and fasting.
A local stitcher shared a free pattern that I made for the occasion.
On Friday, March 25th, we were in the old souq where Ramadan decorations were already up.
Sadly, just this past Thursday there was a huge fire in the area that started when welding was being done in a perfume shop. There was extensive damage but I'm not sure how many businesses were affected (one report said 300). Thankfully, there were very few injuries, but still very scary and devastating for so many.
Sending blessings your way.

Love that stitching project!
I am so sorry to hear about your fire. I hope no one was injured or worse. I hope those affected are able to rebuild.
I'm sorry to hear about the fire. That's devastating for the shops. I hope the damage wasn't too bad. The cross stitch is beautiful. How do you plan to finish it off?
Blessings,
Betsy
Dearest Tammy,
Wow, never knew that there also were Ramadan ornaments...
Not that I know during the early 1990s when we worked and lived in Indonesia.
But sure, times have changed and everyone, the world over, is pushing for commercialism.
What a sad fact that fire caused by welding... Indeed tragic if that many got affected by it.
Hugs,
Mariette
Such a pretty cross stitch, Tammy . Beautiful in blues. So sorry to hear about the fire in your community. Have a lovely day .
I didn't realise that they put up decorations for Ramadan it looks lovely but how awful that there was a fire, it's a blessing that no one was seriously injured. The cross stitch is beautiful, have a peaceful Sunday.x
Gorgeous cross-stitch...so neat! I found Ramadan quite an experience when I visited Egypt some years ago. Really awful to hear about that fire. Do hope that they can rebuild and no one has lost their livelihood. Keep well. Amanda x
Beautiful cross-stitch, nicely done in one colour shade. Cx
Your cross stitching is lovely. Did you use DMC? Can I ask what colors please? I love these shades of blue. Cross stitching really is a lovely art form. Very sad about the fire. Hope everyone is healing and that rebuilding can begin soon for their shops. Blessings always.
The stitching is very pretty and intricate! Glad the injuries to people were down; sorry for the property/livings were affected!
Tammy - I can easily imagine how many vendors could be affected in a souk! I hope it does not impact too many livelihoods.
