Art with Aruna

After a two week break, my friend, Aruna, and I were able to meet up again for another drawing date.
Our previous outing was on June 25th to Bouchon Cafe at one of the nearby malls.

Today we headed just up the highway to a new restaurant complex called Vibes to check out the Mediterranean restaurant, Maize, that I read about in a local magazine.
The decor was really lovely.
And the food was delicious.
Edamame hummus, green falafel, cauliflower flatbread

Amazingly, Aruna matched the edamame hummus perfectly.
Gorgeous greens!

After chatting and eating, it was time for drawing.
Aruna takes her time sketching.
While I doodle and draw and add lots of color to my page.
The little bird drawing was actually inspired by a picture from Instagram that Cheryl posted of her pretty bird Layla.
Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.
― Pablo Picasso

Unfortunately, while we were enjoying our art time inside, the weather outside got very windy and dusty.
So much for yesterday's beautiful blue skies.

Have a terrific Tuesday!

You always find lovely places to meet your friends and do crafts. Both sketch drawings are nice.

It looks like you had a wonderful time. Aruna DID match perfectly! That's so funny. She is a very talented artist as are you. I can't draw worth beans.
The cauliflower flatbread sure caught my eye. It looks delicious.
It's so cool here today I have a blanket over my legs. Next week is supposed to be in the 90's. This has been a crazy summer so far.
Blessings,
Betsy

Thanks so much for your beautiful posts in June and July, Tammy! I so enjoyed my visit with you this afternoon. You have seen such interesting sites/sights. Your surroundings are often so rich in art, and I am glad you make the effort to gather with crafters and use your creative skills. The food you showed us looks lovely. My older sister visited from July 5-14 and we tried out our first cauliflower pizza crust. It was good! xx

Tammy - I am always impressed that you find new places to go, and they all seem to have wonderful décor - you have the eye and very good taste! Lovely drawings, as always! Hope the blue skies return, and that the art truly does wash away the dust!

A very apt quote for a dusty day!
You are so lucky to be able to go out for nice lunch/play dates like this.
It looks very luxurious. How lovey for you both to have the company and space for your art. x

Amazing and lovely, that color match! I love the idea of meeting up to have a meal and draw :) These days, I can't even persuade Piper to join me in my studio (=tent with lots of screen windows and screen roof, to get relief from biting bugs) for daily markmaking. She is spending most of her time snoozing in the air-conditioned house. Thought this might be the year I would have to replace my little old rattling A/C, but so far so good! Between that and a floor fan, Piper seems comfortable. And luckily I get to share her luxurious status :)

I just wish I could have been there with you - all is fascinating from art to food, and the colors, oh the lovely colors!
Wishing you more lovely days, dust free!

Dearest Tammy,
LOVE the matching colors on Aruna, including her accessories, with the green hummus.
That restaurant's fare would make me very happy...
And then the drawing, Aruna is a great sketcher and then filling in the colors.
You are a happy and colorful drawer and that shows!
Sending you hugs,
Mariette

Hello Tammy - Just realized I was posting from my junk mail account lol
What a beautiful post. I always love seeing your view from your end of the world. I don't know which one of you had the green outfit on but how beautiful!
Thank you for you well wishes. It has been very trying for me. Rotator cuff was really the worst pain of all. The ankle is a torn ATFL and yes, it is still swelling and August 5 it will 2 months since I did it. I think since this is my stroke effected foot, and a bad sprained ankle from 6th grade adds to it.
I hope you are doing well. :-)
