Wandering, Wondering

Listen to the trees as they sway in the wind.
Their leaves are telling secrets. Their bark sings songs of olden days as it grows around the trunks. And their roots give names to all things.
Their language has been lost.
But not the gestures.
Vera Nazarian, The Perpetual Calendar of Inspiration
I was very happy this morning to wake to a fine weather day.
Breezy with some clouds, but blue skies means the dust has cleared and that is a very good thing.
After not walking for the past week, it was time to wander and explore again.
Look at everything as though you were seeing it for the first time or the last time. Then your time on earth will be filled with glory.
Betty Smith
I noticed that a couple of my crocheted hearts are still right where I hung them.  One is off the beaten path and the other in clear view.  I wonder if they've been noticed at all, or is everyone too busy doing whatever they're doing to truly pay attention.  I see people glued to their phones even when they are walking and that truly boggles my mind.  To me, getting outside means connecting with nature.  My phone goes with me purely for photo opportunities and nothing else.
The quality of life is in proportion, always, to the capacity for delight.  The capacity for delight is the gift of paying attention.
Julia Cameron
Have a wonderful Wednesday,

It's a wonderful time for walking and noticing all the changes. I spotted buds on the trees for the first time yesterday :-)

Hooray for your walk! :) I share your perspective about observing all of nature - that's how I live my life every day, I'm always in a state of wonder when it comes to the little things around me.

I agree with your about the phones. No wonder the hearts of people have turned to stone. We feed our souls with things from nature and without that experience folks can lose their way. Wonderful walk today. I have not been outside yet. It is a beautiful day here also.

This is a very thoughtful and lovely post, Tammy. I'm blessed to have places to walk and a sweet little companion to walk with. Diane

Glad you are getting some clear blue skies, Tammy!
One thing I love about drawing (or in may case, attempting to draw) is that it makes a person look at things closely. I used to tell students, "if you want to see what something really looks like, draw it."

Beautiful photos!

Beautiful words!

Beautiful sentiments!

And I simply can not understand people walking, eyes glued to a phone... Or walking, with ear buds in... -sigh- Not only for the sake of safety. But for the joy of paying attention to the sights and sounds of nature, around them. -head desk- -sigh-

Lovely walk today, Tammy. Makes me want to put on my sneakers and go. And I just might. I agree about the cell phones...what's scary is that people do it while driving.

Wonderful photos. You find the best Art in the Nature.
And yummiest food. And we all live under the same sky...
I love the quotes.

Keep on walking and sharing your photos. :)

Blessings!

Dearest Tammy,
Sadly a vast number of people nowadays miss the beauty that lies in the detail and especially in nature.
It can lift up your spirit in a way nothing els can and it energizes us!
You did spot lots of beauty and little miracles.
Sending you hugs and blessings.

I enjoyed your different images you captured on this walk. I think it's almost a good sign that the hearts are still there.. maybe people would feel like they're stealing by taking them? You could put a little tag on them that says.. "Take me if you like me." or something. But I do think people see them.. and love them. I sure would. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Lovely photos Tammy! I'm so happy you were able to get out and walk today. I did too! My first real walk of the summer with Chloe at the lake. We wandered down to the waters edge and I dipped my toes in. Ouch! Snow melt lakes in March are NOT warm at all! Silly me. I agree about phones. Sometimes Dennis will call me while I'm walking, but I always talk to him. Otherwise I usually let it go to voicemail and enjoy my time outside. Thanks for sharing the beauty of your home.
Blessings,
Betsy

Hi Tammy. I was so pleased to see you had posted on my blog. I have been so out of blogland for a while. I'm enjoying blogging again and visiting my blogging friends.
Always enjoy your quotes and your beautiful pictures. You have a way of finding the beauty in your faraway land. Hanging the crochet hearts is such a good idea. I'll bet they do cheer up those who take the time to see them. I know seeing one on a walking path would make me smile. Thanks again for stopping by my blog.

You very much see the positive, Tammy, and it helps to open my eyes. I can't imagine dust or extreme heat but you adjust and never complain. The poem is beautiful---I find much meaning in my own life when reading it.

The walking and phones everywhere...so hard to digest. I do however, find myself checking mine all the time with 4 kids who I always want to know about...their health and such. Elderly relatives...I have work and need to stay in touch. In the grocery---I often thought people were inconsiderate, pushing a cart and having their cell phone at their ear. But I use my own for lists and recipes and notes in the same places!. No bad intention here...there are many who tune out to tune in to their phones...irrelevant conversations just passing time. They miss the beauty of the world. I think all of these issues will change as we evolve.

I use my cell phone for photos too and people think I'm on it all the time. Sometimes I wish I would have stuck to the flip phone and a camera but I got tired of carrying both around. I'd take a heart if I were close. I could use one right now!

Glorious blue sky day for walking and enjoying every nuance of nature. I don't own a smart phone and therefore I can truly give my full attention to all that is wondrous and amazing. Love the photos and especially the hungry bee. Blessings Dear...

I don't envy your dust storms. Looks like you had a gorgeous day for a walk! Those hollyhocks? are beautiful and so tall! I keep looking for my hollyhock to show it's new sprouts, but nothing yet. Great quote about looking at something as if for the first time or the last. Really, that makes you appreciate everything about you. Ahh! the sun just broke through some dark clouds here! Maybe our day will improve to bluer skies as well :) Enjoy your weekend Tammy,

I am glad the dust settled long enough for you to get out. I was at the beach for a walk yesterday and saw all these people walking with headphones on, I was so surprised because then you can't hear the waves, the birds, etc. Hope you have a wonderful weekend,
Meredith

Oh, I LOVE the quotes in this post!!! I was thinking about trees on my recent travels home, and the things that they have all seen over their lifespan. This is a beautiful post, my friend. LOVE IT!
