Travel Tuesday: Destination Dubai

Now that I'm not working, I'm able to travel with my husband on quick business trips.  Dubai is always a great destination for just a few days away.
We experienced dust, rain and blue skies over the three days we were there.
It's amazing how different it all looks depending on the color of the sky.
There's Burj Khalifa on a cloudy day where everything is dull and gray.
And Burj Khalifa on a blue sky day where everything is gorgeous and glistening.
Le Meridien has lots of lovely outdoor sitting areas.  And we always enjoy our trips to Dubai Mall.
Where my absolute favorite place to visit is the bookstore.
It's also tradition for us to have lunch at Nordsee where the only thing we ever get is the seafood soup.
A simple meal that is filling and delicious (and about the only time I eat seafood).
It was also nice to see signs of Christmas since we don't get a whole lot of that in Kuwait.
Now here we are on the first day of a brand new month and soon to be starting a brand new year.
Happy December everyone!

The photos you take always make Dubai look like a dazzling, clean place with hardly any people! I'm glad you got a little infusion of Christmassy things while you were there. Wendy

Hi Tammy, so glad to be in touch again. So you are not working. Sorry you cannot crochet anymore, I loved to see your work. My grandson-in-law is the owner of MedVet and has visited the King in Dubai several times as his company makes solutions to mix germ cell transplants for animals. It has become quite a success. The King uses it for his horses and camels. He says Dubai is beautiful and my granddaughter went with him on one of his trips. Your photos are beautiful. Blessings to you and yours.

Lovely pics !! I always wonder how do they clean such tall buildings, riding on a helicopter or aeroplane ?;) I have plans to visit Dubai next year. A friend keeps on calling to visit. It is just 4 hrs flight from my city. Let's see. Were you staying at the Burj?

Dubai seems like such an exotic busy city, but you've shown photos with open spaces that make it look lovely. The sky does make such a difference to photos (and to the way things look). Is Dubai not a Muslim country? I see the Stella Artois glass out in public, which makes me wonder.

I'm so happy to hear that you are pursuing adventures now that you are a free bird, Tammy! And of course, new-to-me places, as is the usual. Dubai looks exciting, I think I would be happiest visiting the bookstores like you though, and I really love to experience the local fare. The soup looks delicious! I'm glad to hear you had a nice time in spite of the dust. Very pretty pictures.

I so apologize for not getting by more often---I've missed a lot of your posts and I always find them to be so interesting. I hope things slow down for me soon, I miss my friends! :)

I recall how we just missed seeing and meeting each other when I was in Dubai - and now all your great pix are bringing back the memories of that fascinating city. It really was a great place to see and I would love to visit again some day. If I do you'd better be there Tammy. . . . . . think of the fun we could have, and I'd love to try that soup!

Hugs - Mary

So glad you were able to get away with your hubby and have gotten away from that toxic environment. My co-worker just got back from Dubai a few weeks ago on business. She is in our international deparment and has been getting to travel. Too bad I couldn't be a little mouse in her pocket :)

I love travelling around with you...what an incredible structure that building is!!! GORGEOUS. And the mall - LOVE the fountain with the bronze divers! Such a great post, Tammy - I love seeing places where I know I probably will never set foot.
