Serious Stashbusting

Well, it's been nearly two weeks since I was last here.  Such busy days heading into the end of the school year.  Some controversy thrown in for good measure.  And a yarnbombing project that has taken up all my free time.
Last week, the call went out for crocheters and knitters to meet at The Secret Garden Project to plan the yarnbombing of this tree (photo taken at the end of our first afternoon meeting).
Believe me, it's bigger around than you think.  We had a good first turn out.  I sort of took the lead on the direction this will take and also volunteered to do the joining of all the contributions.
You can see here the first squares I made before the meeting.
And I've been joining and granny square making ever since.
(Jingles checking out all the contributions.)
I've blogged about The Secret Garden before.  It is a community garden started by Mimi, who is a young Kuwaiti chef. She is passionate about a grassroots movement in this country and believes change begins with us, each individual, person-by-person.

On Monday, we set up a meeting at the studio of LB o J'zazz where I managed to make a couple more grannies.  Only one other volunteer showed up who also contributed a granny and we even taught Chef Mimi how to join a couple of squares.
Hopefully over the weekend I can take some of the pieces to see if they fit around the tree yet.  I did a trial test on Monday and we were still short.

And the controversy I mentioned means I might actually finish school before June 7th. We shall see.  But either way, very, very soon, I will have my precious time back and will have time for all the things I really want to do, like blogging and visiting all of you.

Have a terrific Thursday.

Looks like a great project you're working on. Can't wait to see it around the tree. I know you are looking forward to finishing with school. Having time to do the things you love is wonderful. I'm so glad for you to be able to do that. Have a great day, Tammy!

Wow! Serious crocheting going on with so many!! :)

None of that here of course, but still lots going on away from work, which is always so very slow during the summertime. I could easily work part-time and still get everything done here, that's how slow it is.

At home, we've been having lots of fun - late night parties with friends the past two weekends, coming get-togethers with family and friends, going to Mumford & Sons in Chicago in two weeks staying there overnight, and planning for our big July road-trip vacation to Colorado where we are taking and paying for 7 (all three of our daughters and their boyfriends are accompanying us). In between, with a large yard, there is always yard work and gardening. We've been having tons of rain here - way too much really - so I have to mow at least 3 days a week. So, busy in my own way here.

Hope you enjoy your final days of working. I've come to the conclusion here that I will spend my days happy in my work whatever that may be since each day is a new day of life that so many are not so blessed to have.

That would be so much fun Tammy!!! Nothing more fun than a bunch of women sharing talents and working together for something worthwhile. I LOVE this! Your fingers and wrists are certainly getting a workout though, but I know you love it :)

I love these kind of projects, Tammy. What fun! It's a shame though that only one other volunteer showed up for the meeting.
Just a few more days and you're free to do whatever you like ... :).
