My Morning Constitution

Every morning was a cheerful invitation to make my life of equal simplicity, and I may say innocence, with Nature herself.
Henry David Thoreau
I much prefer to walk early morning and look forward to the time when I will be able to do so every day.
Yesterday, hubby and I walked to the Nike store which is just across from the area where we live.  They were having a sale, and although the choices are always limited, my purple Nikes had done their time so it was time to get a new pair.
I took them for an hour and 50 minute test drive this morning.
Walked around both our neighborhood tracks, and then wandered up and down the streets where there's much more interesting things to see.
My favorite entryway of the day.
Love that checkerboard path with the grass and concrete stones.
They even had a grassy area to the right with a water fountain and seating area.
It's always a struggle to get out there when the weather is warm, hazy and windy, but once I get going, and find my rhythm, it's kinda hard to get me to stop.
As the Nike slogan says ...
JUST DO IT!
Happy Saturday!

Yay! New shoes! You certainly deserve them with your faithfulness to get out there and walk ...even when it's hot out. I admire your fortitude in walking so much. I really need to be better. And it really is easier for me to exercise here at the lake than in the winter at home in the ice and snow. No excuses. I must walk. And I'll be thinking g of you Tammy while I do. :-)
Blessings,
Betsy

I bought a pair of walking shoes a few weeks ago, to replace the pair worn out last summer. Now I'm knitting another pair of summer socks to add to the rotation. I may not get out there walking daily when the humidity cranks up, but I will try!

Dearest Tammy,
You sound and look great with your new 'happy feet' on. Incredible photos and yes, we ought to look more at the beauty that still is around us. Forgetting the ugly...

I give you a lot of credit for doing all that walking, especially in the heat and humidity!

Love your new Nikes! You know their headquarters are here in Portland, Oregon. My daughter worked there and my nephew is up in the mgmt there. You sure do find some pretty flowers to photograph there. I have some pretty stuff out on my deck. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

It always takes that effort in the beginning to get motivated and once you do it is always worth it in the end. Thank you for sharing these beautiful photos of your walk. Love your new shoes:)

All the plants are just like what I used to see in Southern California. Love the checkerboard walkway! I'll bet that little lawn takes a lot of maintenance to keep it so green and soft. :)

Happy new shoes, and may they carry you many happy miles!

Love all of your photos! I'm reading Thoreau right now.

I'm wearing Nike shorts at work today - well, I wore them for my midday walk and will change back soon, though now with the students pretty much gone for the summer, things can be casual here. It's warm and humid here right now which for us is low 80s with 100% humidity, but my middway walk is essential every day. Only on the weekends do I get up early and do it in the morning.

Have a great week!
Linda

Pretty landscaping photos. I am staying in from the humidity today. We have had several days of pop up thunderstorms and darkness.
Like your new sneakers.

I agree, what a good slogan Nike has.."just do it" I have a Fitbit charge, it measures the amount of steps I take each day, it reminds me to increase the amount I walk on a daily basis..love the photos you take along the way, makes me think I am walking right along with you.:)

Didn't you just get those purple shoes? I love that checkerboard path and it looks like they have a spotlight at night and also are training some vines to go up to the balcony? Very nice place! Did you retire yet or did I dream that? LOL! You haven't blogged for awhile so I hope all is okay. Will your son come home for the summer? TTYL!

I agree Tammy. Sometimes I just don't feel motivated in the beginning, but once you've made the commitment it's all good. Your new shoes took you by some beautiful places. I love seeing that even though the country you live in is so far away, there are still so many similarities.
It's really a beautiful place!
I hope you have a wonderful rest of the week my dear.
sending hugs....
