Happy Mother's Day!

There are all kinds of mamas out there in the world and today we celebrate them all.
In these parts, Sunday is a regular work/school day.  And a busy one it was.  I've not been very committed to the daily movement I posted about -- due to crazy weather and heat -- it was still 97 degrees when I called my mom at 5:30 p.m., so I waited until sunset to pound the pavement.  I always feel so much better when I do.
For those of you who were surprised by the "going away party" -- I've known for quite awhile that this would be my last year at the school.
My boss is retiring and heading back to Nova Scotia and I'm basically just fed up.  I've given so much to the position and had never received anything in return, so, I'm done.  Besides, sitting behind a desk for 7-1/2 hours every day in a windowless office is not how I want to spend my time.
I can't tell you what relief this brings me.  When anyone asks what my plans are, I tell them I am looking for peace of mind and purpose.
I plan to do everything I've not had time for because of work; I want to get involved in charity and volunteer projects; I want to create for a cause; I want to spend my time and energy on important things.
One more month to go and then F R E E D O M !!!  I can't wait!

Have a great day!

Congratulations! I'm blessed not to have to work outside the home and it's very fulfilling. You'll love being free to do whatever, whenever.

Good for you. You'll do fine! When we sold the store and after working since I was 13 years old, people would ask me if I was afraid of getting BORED!!! That's a word that's just not in my world. Diane

Dearest Tammy,
Wow, it was night that they did give a going away party for you and I'm all with you for taking this decision.
Most people keep dragging on way too long and for what?!
Enjoy what you like and dare to let go if necessary; we've always done that too.
Sending you hugs,
Mariette

PS My sweet friend arrived in The Netherlands this morning. We both lost our Moms only weeks apart... Now the house is so quiet again.

Good for you, Tammy! It's a shame that your hard work wasn't rewarded the way it should have been. The month will be over soon and then you can start all the projects you have in mind. The countdown is on.
Hugs,
Julia

That's a fantastic decision Tammy! I too feel that my teaching job is literally draining me and that I too receive so little in return (with a pitiful salary on top of it)so I am counting the days when I finally hand in my notice.

On a much happier note, I want to wish you a Happy (belated) Mother's Day!!!

I know you'll enjoy your wonderful time without that job!! :) I would love to retire from here, but I have 4 more years until my 30 year mark when I can do so at a young age, and who knows what time will bring. In the meantime, my job provides for my family's health insurance and other benefits, including college should Sarah decide to utilize those benefits, so I HAVE to stay put.

Have a great week!

You so deserve your freedom after all you have done for that job. I am so excited for you to finally be able to breath and do what makes you happy.

What great big wonderful change you're making Tammy. I did the same thing about 6 years ago and haven't regretted it a bit. I spend my days knitting for charities and in the colder months when the lake doesn't beckon o me, I visit retirement homes and crochet and knit with the ladies there who typically have no visitors. I'm looking forward to reading about your new adventures.
Blessings,
Betsy

Love your art journal pages, Tammy! Very colorful, artistic, and cute! I am happy for you that you will have time to do what "you" want to do instead of always doing what others want you to do. Even though I am just getting a taste of that for myself, it is so satisfying. I look forward to reading about all the fun things you'll be doing and making! Have a wonderful week! Bess
