Five on Friday

Five every day simple pleasures.

Blooms ... despite the heat.
(It's currently 115 degrees and rather blah.)
I still have flowers blooming on my balcony gardens.
The scent of jasmine is so sweet.
Doodling ... with markers and watercolors, on paper and on rocks, makes me happy.
Doodling sure was easy in my younger years, but now I have to really think about it and am always seeking inspiration from all around.
Crocheting ... working with others for a common cause.
I posted yesterday about our yarnbombing project for The Secret Garden.
 Simple, healthy food.
This was lunch yesterday.

New potatoes and green beans, salad with beets, toasted walnuts and a maple syrup mustard dressing and vegan cornbread (recipe can be found at food52.com).

And lastly, for the past few weeks, some concoction of "nice cream", or a smoothie bowl, has been my dinner.
Frozen fruit blended with a liquid (either water, natural fruit juice or almond milk), until it is a soft serve consistency, topped with nuts, coconut, cacao nibs whatever you want.
Really so refreshing on these hot summer days.

I'm joining Amy at Love Made My Home for Five on Friday.

I am beginning to learn that it is the sweet, simple things of life which are the real ones after all.

Have a fabulous Friday!

Oh, that heat would be a killer for me! I don't do well with extreme heat (especially if humidity goes with it). I'd be living off of nicecream. ;-) Which, by the way, is delicious. I made some last night. I belong to a Facebook group called My Whole Foods Life and just the other day, they were talking about this. Someone made it with coconut milk, which I thought sounded delicious. I might try it that way soon. Have a great weekend!

115 degrees!!!! Oh my! I don't think I would be very content in that kind of heat. It's 63 here right now and I'm quite comfortable in my sleeveless dress. Your dinner especially looks yummy to me. This post seems like a very contented one to me. I've been thinking of you a lot as you get ready for a transition in your life. Please know that you're in my prayers. Change...no matter how looked forward to, can be a challenge.
Blessings always my friend,
Betsy

Your meals look so healthy and interesting! When it's that hot.. do you ever lose electricity and hence your AC? What happens then? I remember losing our elec. in Louisiana when it was hot and humid and I was so miserable! Love your colorful doodle. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

And I thought it was hot here today! LOL! With me it's not the heat as much as the humidity that stifles me. You're not a "doodler", you're an artist! I can't wait to see the yarn bombing of the Secret Garden. I love your healthy and simple dishes you make. I'm getting there, I hope. Have a great weekend!

Am loving our summer heat here. The relentless wind (and it's always strong here) that I really don't like, does make it still bearable to enjoy the windows opened in our house, though most people I know love freezing cold air conditioning. That's never been for me and I really detest when places are chilled that much (even when it's hot).

Looks like the start of many wonderful days to come for you since you'll be done with work. :)
Hope you're enjoying a lovely weekend,
Linda

Well goodness, 115 degrees would make me wither for sure. Is it humid at all?

Your lunch looks great and you've inspired me to go make a fruit smoothie. Thx!

A lovely five Tammy the lunch looks delicious and the sound of the smoothies yummy. I can smell the jasmine from here it brings back memories, I often wondered how it had the energy to bloom is such blazing temperatures I used to press the flowers and make pictures with them, I wonder if they still adorn the walls of our abandoned flat or even if the flat is still standing. Have a great weekend. :) xxx
