Pixel Takes Patience

It's like cross-stitch and crochet combined.  Tiny little colored squares to create a picture.  I've come across some beautiful blankets made this way and have wanted to try creating one of my own.  You can just about take any small cross-stitch pattern and turn it into pixel crochet, so I decided to start with a simple heart.
The easy part is finished.  Tiny little one round granny squares were created using thin cotton yarn.  Now I have to join them all together and tie in all those little loose ends.  My least favorite part of crochet.  Perhaps it will be a pillow at some point.  Not sure I'll ever have the patience for a blanket.

My heart is full today.
My college boy arrived early this morning for a visit.

Happy Day!

It looks great already, Tammy. I've never tried this kind of crochet but I've seen some beautiful examples out there. I look forward to seeing more of yours!

This is really nice and the process is really cool. I also have seen blankets made this way and I have always wanted to try one.

So sweet and especially since you said your heart was full today! So happy your son is home with you for awhile.
I have bags full of those little rounds that I was making using scraps and it was quite a few years back. There was a pattern called Granny's Daughter by Vanna White. Mine were not to make a picture but just to use up scraps. I need to put it together someday but like you it's the "ends" that are putting me off....zillions of them! :)
Enjoy your visit with your son.

I love your heart design.. reminds me of a mosaic! I look forward to seeing what you do with it. A pillow would be nice. I am trying to talk myself into making some flowers for my flower shawl. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

That is the sweetest little blanket. Typing in ends is my least favorite part of crochet too. So glad your family is together again my friend.
Blessings,

Your crochet heart is very clever, and challenging! I hope you have a wonderful visit with your son, Tammy, and that when the time is right you will have the courage to work on joining all those pretty circles :-)

This is a really cool way to work with crochet! I heart the heart :) It's difficult to see how big this project is though. I can't imagine making an entire blanket out of tiny rounds either (not a crocheter). I hope you can make this into a cushion cover though. Nice to hear that you have your son home with you! I just returned my daughter to university yesterday and always come away a bit sad. Enjoy your time together. Wendy x

It's lovely, Tammy.

I'm so happy your boy is home for a visit! How does he like Colorado? Will he eventually return to Kuwait permanently or is it too soon to know? Susan

It will make a great pillow, just in time for Valentines day. It reminds me of yo-yo's I am making for a Christmas quilt. Same as you, I love making the yo-yo, but am not fond of putting them together.
Enjoy your boy's time home and Happy New Year.

It's beautiful Tammy!
I love embroidering Christmas stockings for the family, but I don't enjoy the sewing part either.
Happy New Year!

Thats a lovely idea Tammy I can't wait to see it finished. I always tie off my ends as I do each motif, I will have to look into this and try it myself, great for stash-busting too. My son is home till the 19th and I'm really enjoying his company it's ages since I've had him home for so long. :) xx

Oh, enjoy your sweet boy's being home!! =) Makes my mother's heart smile.

The weaving in of ends is the bane of ALL yarn work! LOL! This is going to make a great pillow... right in time for Valentine's Day! Beautiful. blessings ~ tanna

So lovely, and so clever, but a lot of work for sure, especially with all those ends! I look forward to seeing it all done! xx

I think it looks very fun. I weave in ends right away, I am a freak about it because I can't do them all at one time it drives me crazy.
