By Request

Thankfully yesterday's morning fog did not make a reappearance today.
As the sun rose, the sky went from a lovely watercolor to blue with scattered clouds.

It's amazing how different it can look in just an hour's time.

Over the weekend, a friend from school asked if I could make her some doilies.  She saw a table runner on Pinterest and wanted to make one of her own.
The Pinterest inspiration is on the left and the doilies she was able to find at the fabric souk are on the right.  Of course, I readily agreed to do it not expecting anything in return, but we decided to make it a barter transaction.  In exchange for the doilies, she would make me some jewelry.

The only problem was I needed some thin cotton yarn to be able to make them, so while out walking on Saturday, I made a detour to the little yarn shop in our area.  Along the way, I met some very sweet friends and can't help but wonder if they might have inspired my color choices.

I made some old favorites and tried out some new patterns (there were a few I was not successful at so there was some frogging), but yesterday I was able to give her 10 doilies.
Unfortunately, the picture is a bit dark as I took it yesterday morning when it was so foggy,
She was surprised to get them so fast, so I'm still waiting on that handmade jewelry.

Have a terrific Tuesday!

I've never seen a table runner made with doilies. It is really pretty. You're fast to have them done so quickly too. Your yarn colors do indeed echo your new friends. It looks like you have plenty to make lots of doilies now. :-). Our fog is back again today and is predicted to hang around most of the week. Not fun to drive in, but eerily beautiful.
Blessings,
Betsy

Tammy - what a sweet gesture for your friend. I have friends that I do a lot of bartering with and love it! So nice to have friends you can do that with.

I have always loved that runner on Pinterest. Hers will be equally beautiful.

First I keep forgetting to say how much I like your banner. Now those doilies you crocheted (so quickly) are beautiful! Love the table runner idea. Yes those new friends may have influenced your color choices. When I am shopping I find I am influenced by what ever colors I happen to be wearing that day. Now that I am aware of this I can better select my shopping clothes. Creative Crochet Bliss...
P.S. Love the barter of trading specialties.

Lovely doilies and you crocheted them so fast !! I liked the idea of barter system :) let me look for friends who would exchange my doilies for something they make and I want ;)

You do meet interesting companions on your walks :)
I agree with all the other commenters about the speed of your crochet work - especially considering the gauge you are working with for these pretty doilies. I look forward to seeing your jewelry.
The package is so pretty I would have kept it unopened for a while, just to enjoy it. I am not a very good package-wrapper so I always appreciate the enticing effect of others' wrapping skills.
I also do a little bartering when I have the opportunity. So much more satisfying than cash transactions!
