Adding to the Yarn Stash

Well, it was bound to happen.  I hadn't bought any new yarn since our trip to the States this past summer, but wanted something quick and easy when we traveled to Dubai.  And since I didn't have enough cotton colors for the projects I wanted to carry along, I caved.
Turns out, I didn't have as much time to crochet as I thought, but have since made up for it.

My favorite stacked shells doily and some stone covers.
This pretty cream and blue granny mini mandala was inspired after my walk on the beach last week.
A small mandala that was gifted today to a friend.
Another stacked shells doily and starry flower coaster.
So, my question is, how long do you have to own yarn before it's considered stash?
Happy Sunday!

Stashing is a way of life for me...the Hubs calls it my retirement fund...when I retire I won't have the extra income to spend on yarn....but I am trying to use some of it now...and you asked how I keep my projects straight...I like to be able to move between things depending on what I want to work on, how tired I am, etc....so it isn't too hard..sometimes if something has hibernated a bit..I do have to take some extra time figuring out where I am, but I usually leave myself notes..

Happy New Year from Normandy.
My Nana tried to teach me how to crochet so many times but it's a skill I never mastered.

beautiful Tammy I think once you bring the yarn home its part of your stash- thats how I think of all my weaving yarns

Good question! And if you've made a little something from the yarn, do the leftovers count as stash? Something to ponder....

All your makes are pretty, and that heart is beautiful. Have a great week, Tammy! :)

Wow now I call that a stash. Such beautiful pieces and I love how the beach inspired such a lovely piece of art.
I miss my creative days will I ever pick up yarn again or paint.
So glad you came by for a visit and left me a sweet note.
Glad to start the new year off with connecting to such dear friends.
Happy New Year
Love
Maggie

Well, I don't know anything about stash or yarn, but those are some pretty items.

I'm just back in from doing some photography out in the backyard where it's 4 degrees with the wind presently and a steady snow has been falling all afternoon resulting in about an inch of accumulation so not too much. Apparently we might get as much as 5 inches tomorrow night. It's my first morning back to work tomorrow, but as I'm a wimp about driving in the winter, I never know what my January or February days will bring since I use a lot of comp time as needed if the roads get too bad, which means no one can really count on me to be anywhere at this time of year. ;)

Hope your week is off to a great start,
Linda

Beautiful work Tammy. Love them all but my favorite is the granny heart. Is there a pattern for it somewhere or your own work? Stash. Hmmm. I don't know the answer to that. I only know that I never seem to have enough yarn and I use a LOT of yarn. Some has been around for a few years as I discover yarn I like even better. I am trying to use up what I have though and not buy any more unless I run out of a color when doing a project.
Blessings,
Betsy

I think of stash as yarn I have had for a while I wasn't sure what I was going to make with it. My recent purchases were meant for specific gifts so they were not added to the stash. I love everything you have made.
Hugs to you,
Meredith

My friend always says 'whoever dies with the most fabric in her stash wins' Maybe that goes for yarn too :))))
I love seeing what you have been crocheting Tammy. These pieces are so pretty. Like sewing, I think it would be the perfect way to meditate.

Dearest Tammy,
Ah, they call the one you sent to me; stacked shells... Lovely name for that stitch!
Love the way you incorporate the local and cultural colors in your little projects. You are a keen observer of the daily details; the little treasures of life...

Talked to Dad on his 94th Birthday on the 4th (today...). Hope you all had a special day too.

I admire your productivity, Tammy! As for answering your question, I guess any yarn I have had more than a year is a part of my stash...which means I have quite a stash!

If you are like me and cannot resist purchasing yarn it doesn't take much time at all. Right now I can't sort through mine there is so much but at least you have your's organized.

LOL! I'm not sure when it officially becomes "stash", but I'm thinking the hoarding beyond immediate use could be a sign... LOL! I'm taking the 5th. ;) LOVE all your color combinations!! Just make me smile!! blessings ~ tanna

Once you buy that pretty yarn and put it in with the rest of your yarn it's part of your stash. I think you have to use it up right away for it not to be labelled as such. And my goodness, you have quite a stash!! I thought these were bins in a store at first! I haven't been knitting for long enough to have much of a stash beyond what I kept from my mom's stuff. I gave away three garbage bags full of yarn that my mom had to a knitting friend. I love all your travelling projects. The colours you choose are all so rich. Wendy x
