Sky Watch

For many months now, meteorologists haven't had much to report about the weather here except that it was hot, hot, hot!  Fortunately, we had very little dust this summer and, more often than not, we were blessed with brilliant blue skies.
Last week on the morning drive to school, I just had to pull over to get a picture of the moon.  Even with only my iPhone on hand, you can see how big and beautiful it was.
October has brought cooler temperatures to our area which is rather unusual.
With the changing seasons, the skies begin to take on color that is really only noticeable during the "winter" months.

"And even the sun
in dawn chorus sings,
a celestial melody to the earth
below."
-  Tjaden -
I love this time of year because FINALLY there is something different to see.
We even had a quick little rain shower this morning.
I'm pretty sure the birds love this time of year, too.
Wishing you all a great week!

Oh Tammy I'm always looking up and boring everyone with 'but just look at the sky!' You've got some beautiful pictures there - it must be great to see the changes after such a long time. Have a lovely week x Jane

Beautiful skies. With our changing seasons I can't imagine ever being tired of blue, blue skies. But I imagine that if that were the majority if the time, changes would be refreshing. Thank you for sharing your photos.
Blessings,
Betsy

Nice photos, Tammy, glad you're experiencing nicer weather.

Of course here in Illinois, we have Autumn in full force. After some time of unseasonably cold weather (I'm talking 20s-30s at night!), it's finally sunny and nice again in the 60s, which is the norm for this time of year. It's a very long Autumn here this year though - many trees are at their peak in color, whereas others haven't changed at all and are still green, and there are still various perennial flowers like roses and daisies, blooming, despite several frosts.

Take care,
Linda

I always look up...these photos are fabulous, the colour is so deep and clear...our weather can't make up its mind...we've had frost warnings and now it's going back up into the '70s... oh well long as it doesn't snow!! Have a great week...

Hi Tammy
I wouldn't be happy living in the heat like you do. Our little snap of summer is enough for me, I'm a Spring and Autumn person.
I love the sky pictures and especially the one of the birds.

Oh my, those are stunning skies. I am always searching for good skies for the Sky Watch Friday I'm involved with.

Yours are certainly worthy of praise.

Such a blessing not to have that horrid sandy dust you have had in the past. Beautiful sky, moon and photos. Enjoy your Autumn walks...

Your skies are beautiful and I'm so thankful that your dust has been minimal. Lovely reprieve. I love to look at the sky, too, it's so hard to believe that beyond our sight the stars are there, just like in the night. Amazing universe we live in. Blessings, Diane

I am a sky watcher myself, the skies here are usually very blue, but it is the clouds that draw my attention. I am fascinated by them.
Hugs and enjoy your slightly cooler temps.

Beautiful skies! Yes, it is always hot, hot, hot here too Tammy. I know what you mean. We have had cooler temps too lately and they say a cold wet winter is coming. We'll see. Hope your week is wonderful!

The skies really are amazing there! The heat would be hard to handle, but the beautiful skies would make it a little easier. I guess you just have to get adjusted to the heat!
