Peaceful Walking

I've been walking nearly every single day for the past month and a half.
For me, despite the heat, I still find early mornings and late afternoon bearable.
When I'm walking, I get into a zone and all is right with the world.
It's as if all my thoughts and worries are filtered out with each step I take.
And once home again, I feel calmer, more energized and healthier.
It also gives me an opportunity to focus on the pretty parts to be found.
Believe me, on the whole, Kuwait is not much to look at.
But there is beauty everywhere if we seek it.
We had an unexpected day off on Thursday which meant a 3-day weekend.
Tomorrow begins my last full week of school.
Yesterday our leaving teachers were treated to one last dust storm to remind them of their time in Kuwait.
Good thing I walked early!

I hope all is bright and beautiful in your corner of the world.

Where do you get these beautiful quotations Tammy, some of them are so profound and lovely.
My mind is going in all directions most of the time and maybe more walking is the answer for me.
Enjoy your long weekend

Beautiful post and I agree about walking and how it will calm a person. I used to walk more until the neighborhood dogs started causing a problem. I also rode my bike every morning about daylight and really enjoyed it. I know what you mean...our area is not the prettiest either, but I seek out and focus on the lovely things around me. Wishing you peace and wellness of mind and body.

Dearest Tammy,
Beautiful pictures and your positive attitude for walking is shining through in everything!
We have for sure settled the dust in our area as we got each day rain and thunderstorms... But for the gardens it is a BLISS.
Hugs,
Mariette

Hi Tammy! You are so lucky to have bougainvillea growing there, I think it's one of the prettiest flowers ever and it just seems to bloom forever! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

These are beautiful pictures, a perfect example of finding beauty when you seek it. Sometimes I'm forced to walk at the gym and even then I can let my thoughts drift to happy times, thoughts and memories. It's truly good for the soul.

Do you have any travel plans for the summer?

XO,
Jane

I'm surprised that you say Kuwait is not much to look at generally, because you find the most beautiful spots! The flowering bush (looks like bougainvillea?) is stunning! I love those papery thin flowers. I too go for walks every day with my pup and we always feel awake and ready to tackle the day when we return (well I do, I'm sure the pup would rather continue walking all day long!). I'm glad you get a positive feeling from your walks too ... enjoy your long weekend, and I hope that sand storm settles quickly. Wendy x

Dear Tammy
I feel full of peace and calm just reading your post and the poignant quotes you find. Thank you for sharing!

Walking is great exercise for the body and as you have found it's good for the soul as well!
My daily walks are as much a part of my day as eating a healthy breakfast.

The beautiful bougainvillea and palms you enjoy on your walks on the good days must make up for those dust storms!

I'm leaving for France again next Saturday so I will be missing from blogland until August.
Take care - I'll miss your inspiring posts!
hugs
Shane ♥

Hi honey
I am so glad to see that your taking such good care of yourself. Wish I were as good as you about doing the walks every day. Like you it will have to be in the wee hours of the morning because of the temps here already.
Thank goodness we are not in the 100's yet.
Love these pictures yu shared with us.
In answer to your comment heart disease runs in our family like you mentioned in yours. So when my doctor told me I was a walking heart attack she opened my eyes wide.
The area I can walk in out here is so rough that I can't get a good brisk walk in like I need and it is too far to ride to town and walk but I will figure it out.
You take care and watch out for those high temps.
Love ya
Maggie

I love 'our' walks with you around Kuwait and seeing those lovely hidden corners.
I live in a small town between two coastlines on the south west peninsular of England. Mostly I walk around the town and surrounding fields but today I walked on the beach...bliss!!

I feel the same way about walking, which is why I do it every single day, rain, snow, ice, shine, whatever... for the past 4 1/2 years, averaging around 3 miles per day. I love it.

Right now, it's sunny here with pretty normal temps in the 70s/low 80s this week. Pleasant.

We're getting ready to leave for our long vacation to Gatlinburg, TN. Summer relaxation is in full swing here.

Hope you enjoy a wonderful summer.

With all of the attendant
festivities that come with
a high school graduation,
I have completely let my
normal exercise routines
fall by the wayside. I've
been thinking of taking
longer walks instead of
going right back to the
other stuff, just to shake
things up, and this post
is now pushing me to
follow through!

I see that your son also
graduated hs this year.
Will he be heading off
to college this fall? I'd
love to hear where, if
he is. I'l be taking our
daughter to college in
mid-August. Doesn't
seem possible, yet here
it is!

Enjoy your summer, and
your walks!

Beautiful images and quotes, Tammy! Goodness, that dust storm pic made me feel like gasping for air. Amazing you deal with that on a more regular basis. I only experienced one bad dust storm and it left me sick with asthma for two months. You have my sympathy.
