I've been walking nearly every single day for the past month and a half.
For me, despite the heat, I still find early mornings and late afternoon bearable.
When I'm walking, I get into a zone and all is right with the world.
It's as if all my thoughts and worries are filtered out with each step I take.
And once home again, I feel calmer, more energized and healthier.
It also gives me an opportunity to focus on the pretty parts to be found.
Believe me, on the whole, Kuwait is not much to look at.
But there is beauty everywhere if we seek it.
We had an unexpected day off on Thursday which meant a 3-day weekend.
Tomorrow begins my last full week of school.
Yesterday our leaving teachers were treated to one last dust storm to remind them of their time in Kuwait.
Good thing I walked early!
I hope all is bright and beautiful in your corner of the world.

Where do you get these beautiful quotations Tammy, some of them are so profound and lovely.
My mind is going in all directions most of the time and maybe more walking is the answer for me.
Enjoy your long weekend

You're so right, beauty is everywhere but we must take time to look.
O Tammy, such an uplifting post and wonderful images you found on your walks. I am so happy that you have found your daily walks to be such good medicine for your soul. It's nice when we discover that niche.
Have a wonderful weekend!!

I love peacefulness you impart in these photos. I need that right now. Have had much unrest inside myself lately. Thanks for the reminder.
Dearest Tammy , I agree with you ! When I walk at peaceful roads without cars , is more beautiful and I feel calmer and nice ! Thank you for this beaty walk in your corner !
Have a nice weekend !

I look forward to walking all day - it just has the most amazing calming effect on me. Love the quotations :-)
Beautiful post and I agree about walking and how it will calm a person. I used to walk more until the neighborhood dogs started causing a problem. I also rode my bike every morning about daylight and really enjoyed it. I know what you mean...our area is not the prettiest either, but I seek out and focus on the lovely things around me. Wishing you peace and wellness of mind and body.
Dearest Tammy,
Beautiful pictures and your positive attitude for walking is shining through in everything!
We have for sure settled the dust in our area as we got each day rain and thunderstorms... But for the gardens it is a BLISS.
Hugs,
Mariette
Hi Tammy! You are so lucky to have bougainvillea growing there, I think it's one of the prettiest flowers ever and it just seems to bloom forever! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
Your daily walking sounds like a revitalizing and enriching experience, and I agree about finding beauty where we look for it. I hope your eyes will be filled be beauty, every day.
Thich Nhat Hahn is such an inspiration, always bringing me back to basics: breathing in, breathing out. Thank you for sharing these quotes :)
These are beautiful pictures, a perfect example of finding beauty when you seek it. Sometimes I'm forced to walk at the gym and even then I can let my thoughts drift to happy times, thoughts and memories. It's truly good for the soul.
Do you have any travel plans for the summer?
XO,
Jane
I'm surprised that you say Kuwait is not much to look at generally, because you find the most beautiful spots! The flowering bush (looks like bougainvillea?) is stunning! I love those papery thin flowers. I too go for walks every day with my pup and we always feel awake and ready to tackle the day when we return (well I do, I'm sure the pup would rather continue walking all day long!). I'm glad you get a positive feeling from your walks too ... enjoy your long weekend, and I hope that sand storm settles quickly. Wendy x
nice photos!
Dear Tammy
I feel full of peace and calm just reading your post and the poignant quotes you find. Thank you for sharing!
Walking is great exercise for the body and as you have found it's good for the soul as well!
My daily walks are as much a part of my day as eating a healthy breakfast.
The beautiful bougainvillea and palms you enjoy on your walks on the good days must make up for those dust storms!
I'm leaving for France again next Saturday so I will be missing from blogland until August.
Take care - I'll miss your inspiring posts!
hugs
Shane ♥
Hi honey
I am so glad to see that your taking such good care of yourself. Wish I were as good as you about doing the walks every day. Like you it will have to be in the wee hours of the morning because of the temps here already.
Thank goodness we are not in the 100's yet.
Love these pictures yu shared with us.
In answer to your comment heart disease runs in our family like you mentioned in yours. So when my doctor told me I was a walking heart attack she opened my eyes wide.
The area I can walk in out here is so rough that I can't get a good brisk walk in like I need and it is too far to ride to town and walk but I will figure it out.
You take care and watch out for those high temps.
Love ya
Maggie
Hi Tammy...How wonderful you are walking daily.
You are right that there is beauty everywhere, if we but look for it.
Glad school is almost out. Susan
I find walking has the same calming effect. So glad you have been able to get out regularly.
Enjoy your last week before summer break.
Wow! Those dust storms are amazing! I'm so glad you enjoy your walks and enjoying God's handiwork along the way.
Blessings,
Betsy
I love 'our' walks with you around Kuwait and seeing those lovely hidden corners.
I live in a small town between two coastlines on the south west peninsular of England. Mostly I walk around the town and surrounding fields but today I walked on the beach...bliss!!
Glad you are finding your walks good for the soul as well as the body.

Good luck this last week of school. Sending you an end of the school year hug,
Meredith
I love these glimpses of your city. And you have shown it's beauty. I hope you are doing well. Sending hugs. Kit
That's great that you're finding time to walk and to find the beauty around you. Looks like lots of pretty flowers and some great architecture...that white building in the middle of the post is really interesting. Have a wonderful day!
You have an eye for beauty... thats what I love about your blog--- you find it and you share it ;-)
Walking in the morning is my most favorite time to walk. Everything smells so fresh! I can't believe all that dust you get. Enjoy your last week of school. Vacation time! Woot woot!

Hi Tammy. Thanks for visiting me at Simplify! I had a nice visit here, as well. You are in Kuwait? Wow....a long way from home.
Sounds like it is hot there!!
I will be back.

Hello Tammy, you are so very right. There is beauty to found everywhere.. I love seeing the beauty on your peaceful walks. Enjoy your Summer vacation from teaching. Hugs Judy
I absolutely agree with you about finding beauty in every single place... and I most often found that beauty running... I really need to get off my bottom and get to walking. Every time I visit, you inspire me... blessings ~ tanna
What a great reminder to look for the beauty. Thanks for taking us on your walks...
I feel the same way about walking, which is why I do it every single day, rain, snow, ice, shine, whatever... for the past 4 1/2 years, averaging around 3 miles per day. I love it.
Right now, it's sunny here with pretty normal temps in the 70s/low 80s this week. Pleasant.
We're getting ready to leave for our long vacation to Gatlinburg, TN. Summer relaxation is in full swing here.
Hope you enjoy a wonderful summer.
Linda
The flowers are so pretty! It's great that you walk everyday. Good for the body, mind, and spirit!
What lovely bougainvillea ... we had a lot of it in California and I miss those delicate papery blossoms!
It is good to get out and find the little bits of beauty all around.
Enjoy your break!
We are fine here too, but having very humid weather, and expecting the rain to come soon. We also had a storm on Thursday, it was a great one!
Hope you are having a nice week at school and eagerly waiting for vacations.
Such a beautiful and inspirational post! Walking is so good in so many ways for us all!
I miss walking in a city - I used to spend hours doing that. I think it is so healing.

You are so right! If we look for the beauty in things or people we will find it....we are all from the same source so we are all connected....like it or not! LOL!
So glad you are walking and sharing your beautiful Kuwait with us!
I used to walk as often as possible outdoors in Co but Mi has iffier weather and now I use the treadmill, but I agree that once you are in the zone it is a magical place and I feel so connected ... thanks for taking me along on your walk in such an exotic place.. x
Love the bougainvilleas, walking always improves my mood too :) have a great day Tammy
Your quality of light is so much brighter than ours is here in washington state - I'm sure I would never take my sunglasses off! I'm glad you're getting out to walk like that - I've been doing the same - and feel so good for it!
Ok you inspire me to go head out the door and look for those blooms. :-)
Hi Tammy
Had been away for a while. Back home now :) Lovely pics Tammy. Most of all, you keep reminding me to be REGULAR with daily walks. I am not but I want to.
Good day

thinking of you! :)
Goodness. Yes, I see the beauty but those dust storms. Terrifying. Blah. And yet, always, everywhere there are things to be thankful for. Well done, pointing that out.

With all of the attendant
festivities that come with
a high school graduation,
I have completely let my
normal exercise routines
fall by the wayside. I've
been thinking of taking
longer walks instead of
going right back to the
other stuff, just to shake
things up, and this post
is now pushing me to
follow through!
I see that your son also
graduated hs this year.
Will he be heading off
to college this fall? I'd
love to hear where, if
he is. I'l be taking our
daughter to college in
mid-August. Doesn't
seem possible, yet here
it is!
Enjoy your summer, and
your walks!
xo Suzanne
I couldn't agree more with your sentiments on walking and on finding beauty. We just need to have our eyes and minds open. Lovely colourful photos. Enjoy your summer.
Beautiful images and quotes, Tammy! Goodness, that dust storm pic made me feel like gasping for air. Amazing you deal with that on a more regular basis. I only experienced one bad dust storm and it left me sick with asthma for two months. You have my sympathy.
I enjoyed going along on your walk, There is much beauty. I know what you mean about a zone; I am never bored on a walk as I love the time to think or not think, and always am refreshed. I hope you are enjoying your longer weekend and congratulations on your son's graduation. The years fly by!
Hi Tammy,
How lovely to go walking around and see all the pretty flowers there, looks like some of them are bougainvillea.
Hope you are enjoying the weekend
hugs
Carolyn
Such gorgeous photos...and lovely quotes! congratulations to your son on his recent graduation...a busy time for the family, and a transition that can be bittersweet. Success to him in all, and peace to you!
Just stoppped back by to say hello. Hope all is well!
Hi Tammy, Such nice quotes here. You remind me that my goal is to walk around my country "block"=2.5 miles. I think I'll go for a walk right now! I love your pictures, and the idea that there is beauty everywhere! This is so true. Have a great time walking.
Hugs,
Sherry
