Woohoo Wednesday!

It's a good thing I only make Mexican Wedding cookies around the holidays.

I've already had a bunch today. I even had some for breakfast. My family loves them too but we certainly don't need to be eating them all the time.

I decided to stay home this evening rather than going to another meeting. Tried a snowflake pattern Gloria at Crochet Galore posted about here.

And whipped up some cranberry bread.

In a small bowl mix 1 cup chopped fresh cranberries and 1/2 cup chopped nuts
In a bigger bowl add 2 cups flour, 1 cup sugar 1-1/2 tsps baking powder 1/2 tsp baking soda and 1tsp of salt. Cut in 2 TBS of shortening. Add 3/4 cup orange juice and one well beaten egg. Mix until just blended. Then fold in the cranberry and nuts. Bake in greased tins til done.

Tonite's Oprah had Barbra Streisand on along with Robert Redford, their first interview together ever. Memories, light the corners of my mind ... When I was 12, that was one of my favorite songs along with Evergreen. My now 12 year old thinks I'm lame. Ha!

My cousin, Gwen, loves Barbra and is having a giveaway over at her place. You can visit her here to enter. Everyone in Oprah's audience received Barbra's book A Passion for Design which is one of Gwen's giveaway items.

Tomorrow is our last day of school and then the Winter Break begins! Now that's a big Woohoo!

Hope you are having a wonderful Wednesday in your corner of the world. Friendship blessings, Tammy

I've been a Barbra fan for decades...and Evergreen always made me weep. When we went to see the movie, there wasn't enough kleenex on the planet to dry the tears. Sobbbbbbb....

Mayhaps I shall go to the website to try and win the book. She's still a class act.

Cranberry bread AND Mexican wedding cakes! Are you tryin to make me fat????? I love both of them and you cannot stop at ONE cookie, I don't care who you are! They are THE best!

Thanks for YOUR recipe and I hope you WHOOOOHOOO time off is relaxing and wonderful. Just like you!

Dearest Tammy,

Your bakings look yummy and your crochet work is looking great as well.
For sure you will embrace the days after tomorrow! Winter Break doesn't make sense in your area but a break is a break. How about the dust? Did it settle? Hope so!

Have a great day and even better days ahead.

The cranberry bread sounds delicious...thanks for the recipe. I've never tried Mexican Wedding cookies either so have no idea what they taste like....must be good if you find it hard to stay away from them.

Btw, I LOVE your Christmas blog banner!

OH yes....Memories was one of my favourite songs during that time also. I've always liked Barbra Streisand. Gwen has been very generous with her giveaway...I'm hoping I win!

Ohhhhhh, those cookies are my most favorite Christmas cookie. I'll be right there to help with their disappearance. The bread looks equally wonderful. You family must be thrilled. Happy winter break to you.

You too? I love those Mexican Wedding cookies. My daughter Cathy makes them for me every Christmas. Your crochet is so pretty. You're a speedy crocheter! Robert Redford! I adored him for so many years. The first time I saw him was in a made-for-TV movie called This Property Has Been Condemned with Natalie Wood. Nobody ever heard of him at that time. Oh - - sorry. You were talking about Barbra Streisand. Have a great vacation! Diane

Hope the Mexican Wedding Cookies made your day extra sweet. My baking will happen next week, and you had better know that those same cookies will be on my list of those to make. Wish you were here to share them with me. The cranberry bread is the same recipe I have. It is one of my favorite things... Not quite as chic as Oprah's favorite things, but wonderful just the same... HA!

Have a wonderful day. Glad you got some good craft time in last night!

Love,
Renee

I can just imagine your excitement at finishing school tomorrow!!!!
Your blog is looking so festive and ready for Christmas - I love your music - "You and all your families"....fa la la la!!!

We are having a pre Christmas celebration at our house on Monday night, as we will be sailing north on the 22nd to have Christmas with family at their beach house in a gorgeous unpopulated part of our country!
I probably won't be back blogging until late in January so......
Wishing a wonderful Christmas celebration with your family dear Tammy, I'll be thinking of you.
Take care

Wedding cookies are my favorite.
You cannot eat just one, it is impossible. You always fool yourself, it's just a little cookie... and 15 minutes later you've had at least three! Right?

Merry Merry to you and yours
