Dang! December is here!

Day 4 of the month of December and I haven't been here since the last of November.

This week has been a blur. My dear son, my firstborn passed along his cold to me so I have been totally out of sorts for the past many days. Yesterday, I really needed some comfort food -- a steaming hot bowl of vege noodle soup and some cornbread. Yum!

December 1st was the third meeting of the Yarn & Fiber Group and crochet was on the agenda. Even though I felt icky, I didn't want to miss it. Unfortunately, I was so caught up in the whole evening, I forgot to take pictures. I did manage to make peanut butter cookies, wrapped them up with a piece of dark chocolate and gave them as a gift along with one of my crocheted dishcloths to the ladies at the meeting. For some, it was their first meeting and they were so happy to take something home.

Yesterday morning Zack had his first scrimmage game of the season. His team lost in a close game 6-4. We will have scrimmages now for the next three Fridays in a row and then will have the holiday break.

I have missed all the holiday bazaars that have taken place the past couple of weekends. I just feel like I need to make my own gifts for holiday giving, rather than buying all the time. While convalescing yesterday afternoon, I crocheted two dishcloths and a skinny scarf, all in holiday colors.

Cleaning has been on the agenda for today. And finally, some holiday decorating. My youngest declared that two of his friends had their tree up and we are way behind. Decorations are finally being brought out. This year, I'm only going to do a small tree with only handmade decorations. My kids don't yet know that part. But guess what, they are going to be making the decorations. :)

Hope December has been good to you so far. Let the holiday season begin! Friendship Blessings, Tammy

SO sorry you've been sick, Tammy! Hope you're feeling better today...

We just got our boxes down yesterday, and I'm feeling in a bit of a panic to get it all done this weekend! I don't think I've ever started so late! We're planning to get the tree later today, and I'll feel much better when we do!

Get lots of rest, my friend. Hope you're back to normal very soon!

I've been watching for a post and wondering how you were, now I know. Sorry that you are feeling poorly. Hope soon you are better. I love the idea of the tree with handmade decorations. Can't wait to see what you (the boys) will make. I'm sure this is going to be fabulous. Take good care, have more of that homemade soup and back to good health quickly. Hugs and blessings.

Ech.....colds. They just zap your energy. I hope you are on the mend.

Small trees are nice to put up once in awhile. Putting handmade ornaments on will make it just as pretty and special, I'm sure.

How sweet of you to take cookies to the group....they look just so tasty and I'm sure you warmed the hearts of the recipients!

Wish you could have had some chocolate cake, too. Maybe one day we'll split one!!!!

Hugs and stay well,
Jan

I was just thinking of shooting off an email to you to see where you've been? I figured your weekend was tied up so didn't bother with the phone. I've had nasal congestion for about 3 days not and it is not fun. I should have came over for some of your soup and cornbread...yum yum. Karen has been down with the flu and I made her some soup and dropped it off.
Bet the ladies at the yarn and fiber group didn't expect to get such a treat. Sure everyone will be showing up from now on for sure.
Little Lillian girl is a night owl and doesn't want to sleep usually until after 1am...ugh! I thought today she would since I kept her up longer than usual but no such luck. It is 12:18am and she is wide awake and smiling. Ok, guess if Im gonna write a story I should email or call. Hope you're better by the time you read this.

So sorry to hear you haven't been well, Tammy...I hope you get to feeling much better very soon. What a lovely idea to take gifts for the ladies at your Yarn and Fiber group.

That vegetable noodle soup looks delicious...now I'm craving to make some.

LOVE your festive-coloured crochet goodies!

A tree decorated with only handmade decorations sounds like a wonderful idea to me. We have a lot of hand-painted (by me) ornaments on our tree.

I've never heard of the game, scrimmage, before...is it a kind of baseball or rounders?

Anywhoo, have a beautiful weekend with your family, Tammy ~ xo

HI TAMMY, HOPE YOU ARE FEELING MUCH BETTER, WHEN I DON'T FEEL GOOD, A BOWL OF SOUP IS THE BEST MEDICINE.
I LOVE YOUR SCARF, IT IS SO PRETTY. TAKE CARE, FEEL BETTER. HAPPY DECORATING.

Good for you, Tammy! (About the homemade ornaments.) When my girls were young, we'd start making ornaments the day after Thanksgiving. I love to make them still, even though they have families of their own. You're starting a tradition for them! Hope you feel all better soon.

Oh, sorry you're not feeling the best. I hope the soup helped, it is definitely comfort food in my book.

Handmade gifts are the best. I am sure your friends or family will be blessed by your handiwork.

I'm glad you feel well enough to post a blog.. It is no fun being sick.. The bug I got from James is making it's round at their house and others.. I remember when the kids would bring decorations home from school that they made.. Too bad I don't have any of them .

Stay well.. Hugs to you all.

I think homemade gifts are best Tammy. I hope you're feeling better soon. We passed a little bug like this around at the beginning of November.
We don't have our tree up yet either. With a little kitten still in the house, I'm a little worried about that tree toppling if we put it up too soon.
Blessings,
Marcia

Hi Tammy,
Amazing how the cold virus spreads around the world. I have been fighting of the dreaded thing since my last post.
Feeling great now and looking forward to the 25th ( my birthday!!!). Making my tree, yes, making my tree today and enjoying some winter sunshine.
Have a great Sunday.
Hugs, Angela.

Hot soup when you are not feeling great is truly one of the best comfort foods I know. I bet you were feeling a bit better after you had some.
Even with you not feeling well, it sure seems like you have been busy. I am glad that you went to the Textile meeting, even though you were not feeling great. A little time spent in the company of good women, and being craft at the same time is good time for anyone.
Too bad about the loss at the baseball field. I know all the practices and scrimmages will make you a very busy woman over the next few months. Make sure the crochet hook is in the purse...
Have fun decorating the house. I look forward to seeing the picture of the tree with ornaments made by the boys!!

Love,
Renee
