A time for me on our anniversary!

Today we celebrated 16 years of marriage!

My husband spoiled me this month with jewelery and a new HP mini computer, but what do you get a man who has everything? I figure he has the gift of ME! What more could he ask for?

Tonite was the first meeting of the Yarn and Fiber Group that I really wanted to attend so hubby said it was a-o-k with him!

We learned how to make Dorset Buttons.

A craft which originated in Dorset England in the 18th century. A bit of history on the craft and a tutorial can be found here.

Here are samples of what we were to make.

We were given a small packet of simple supplies and everyone went to work.

Here's how mine turned out!

Oops! I forgot one step. "Slicking" is where you turn the blanket stitch to the inside so that the outer edge is completely smoooth. I will definitely be doing this again. I'm thinking Christmas ornaments. Now if I could just find my curtain rings. I have a ton of them somewhere.

Have you heard of or seen Dorset buttons before? Hope you are having a crafty day in your corner of the world. Friendship blessings, Tammy

I have seen the Dorset buttons and made one but have lost it..and I can't find the rings here either.....aren't they fun and lovely....should make some and actually use them as buttons....maybe on one of those capelet things that seem so popular these days.

I adore the photo of you and Sam. Perfect setting for a romantic photograph. Happy Anniversary and here's to many many more!

Nope, haven't heard of those DORSET buttons, but I'm going to learn how to make them. Loving crochet (like you) it's nice to learn something new to make. And since my ancerstors are from that area, I SHOULD know how to make them, right?

I'll download the instructions and we can compare photos of our buttons!

Jan

Happy Anniversary Tammy. Mashallah, I can't believe how quickly the time goes by. Congrats to you and Sam. Omar and I will celebrate 19 years in just a few weeks. The picture of the two of you is wonderful. I hope you have hade it enlarged and framed.

How wonderful that you made it to your meeting. I LOVE the first project that they had you do. Did these get sent home with you, or did everyone "donate" their work to be sold at a bazaar or something? There is a lot of crafting going on around here for our bazaar in two weeks. The best part is that all the proceeds from sales at the bazaar are donated to local charities. NICE!!

Lovely buttons!! I look forward to seeing pictures of your christmas tree this year!!

Have a great Saturday!!

Love,
Renee
