Sunday Spotlight

Last Monday, Maureen from Daydream Living passed along to me a Super Comments Award. You can visit Maureen in Switzerland and read her Questions and Answers post where she answered 9 questions.

Many of the questions have to do with memories, like 5 best movies ever made. I know lots of people who can recall details of movies. I can't recall the details of what happened in my own life last week. And I don't waste time seeing movies here. Many scenes are cut due to censorship so not worth spending the money.

When it comes to my three best memories, I would have to say that being pregnant and giving birth were both pretty awesome experiences. Time spent with special friends and family always provides great memories and stories to tell.

Another question was the 4 best fiction books I've ever read. I laughed out loud at most of the Stephanie Plum books by Janet Evanovich. And absolutely loved Debbie Macomber's Blossom Street series.

But if you look at my bedside table now, that stack is all books that I've started and never completed. I usually read during the summer and if a book isn't finished by then, it might be the next summer before I pick it back up again.

Next up: a unique and interesting fact about myself. This may not be unique or interesting but I gave up eating meat a year and a half ago.

And to me, this is a complete meal. Brown rice, seasoned black-eyed peas, cornbread and peppers. Yummo! My family is not on the same page with me when it comes to eating.

And now here's something to make you laugh. On Friday I tried a crochet-along project that Gloria from Crochet Galore posted.

Her's is a 1918 doily, but mine turned out to be a bowl.

Or a hat, depending on which way you turn it.

Speaking of hats, my thinking cap isn't working very well lately. Thanks to Maureen for thinking of me. Please stop by and pay her a visit. I hope everyone is having a wonderful Sunday! Friendship blessings, Tammy

I love Maureen's blog, and it is great to learn more about you...my friend. How wonderful that you have chosen to be a vegetarian. That looks like a great meal to me, that you photographed. My children and I don't eat meat, but we do eat chicken and fish. My hubby doesn't share our eating habits, but he rarely eats meat, as a result of our choices. Thanks for sharing with us! Have a wonderful and fun day!

Hi Tammy!
Thanks for mentioning me, I'm touched, and for taking the time to answer the (passed along) questions. I, like Maureen from Celestial Charms, don't eat a lot of meat, although I'm not a vegetarian, I just don't miss eating it. And the 'hat' to me looks good! Although I would put fruit in it...
Have a good evening Tammy!

I had a wonderfully funny reply to this, and my computer ate it. Darn.....you'll just have to imagine how cute my reply was!!!! heeeee

We gave up beef ages ago and if I were on my own, I would give up the rest of the meat things, too! There is so much else to eat that is healthier. Seems my husband & yours are on another page!

Thanks for posting this......I'll go over and see what the quiz is all about. I like that kind of stuff. Keeps me thinkin'.

Have a great day!

Hi Tammy, I don't know what row you were on on the doily but with row 11 it does cup up like that and then with the next row straightens right out. Don't know if that helps or not. We do enjoy our steaks, however, your meal is just as tempting to me ... looks very good. I love books and right now have 3 started. We'll see when we get back to them, could be next summer as well. Have a wonderful day.

Hi, Tammy, I liked seeing your "bowl", I've created my share of them, too. I think it's great that you're a vegetarian, I've tried for a long time, I crave meat sometimes. Thanks for sharing these facts about yourself. Diane

Wow, Tammy. Didn't know you gave up eating meat. Good for you! Do you attribute that with your successful weight loss?

Your crocheted bowl is far better than I could ever do, that's for sure.

Wishing you a peaceful and productive week. Susan

Hi Tammy. I too have a stack of books to be finished. Someday, maybe on a long vacation sitting in a lounge chair on the beach?? :)

I loved reading your answers. It would take some thought for me to sit down and think of my answers. I especially liked your books that you love, as you are the one who turned me onto those books. HA!
Dinner looks amazing. I have been meaning to make cornbread for a while now, but have not done it yet. I'll think of you when I do.
Your doilie is unique and lovely, just like you!!

Love ya,
Renee

Fun to learn more about you Tammy. I've been eying up the Stephanie Plum series, have to give that a try sometime soon.

I gave up eating meat for a period a few years ago, but it was just too difficult for me to cook for me and then cook for my family. Blessings to you in your choice.

Oh, too bad about the "crocheted bowl", don't feel bad. Sometimes patterns can be tricky and many projects I started ended up not quite how they were supposed to be. I've come to realize a project is never wasted, cause you learn every time you put hook in hand.

Blessings.

Great answers!! Great memories, and great books. I too have some I have to start. To me, it is the rainy season the one that inspires me. But this rainy season was a messy one, and what I found myself doing was plenty of cleaning! :o( so no books just yet. I'm thinking it will be early January, with some luck, when I'll pick up books again. These says: crafts, crafts, crafts! :o)
We share the no-meat diet :o) so I am happy for you about that.
And I did laugh with the doily! It does look "slightly" different :o)
Have a lovely day!!!

I could be a vegetarian ....if I could eat a steak once a month!!! I can't remember all the movies I've seen to choose one, let alone 5.
Tammy that bowl reminds me of one I tried to make a while ago....it turned into a bowl too. so I made it a bit taller on the sides and it's a.....bowl.... sometimes things just don't want to be what they were supposed to be.
Have a great week.....

Dearest Tammy,

This blog is hilarious! I love your 'thinking cap' definition...
First let me thank you for stopping by and leaving me a comment.
Your crocheted doily, being produced in the Middle East, turned out to be a nice head cover for male... I've seen them wear these a lot. So maybe after all you're much more talented than you think you are!
At least you tried to copy the doily, using yard that is way too thick and probably even hard to handle as it is not the smooth mercerized cotton.
Let's laugh at life!
Love your Taj Mahal photos, we've been there on one of our work visits for Pond's India as their consultant in the Mushroom business. Yep, nowadays even cosmetic business ventures off into other venues, one often doesn't know what all is under one umbrella. Guess you are familiar with that as your husband seems to be working internationally too.
Enjoy your area and keep laughing, make the very best out of any situation.
Maybe for that purpose you should put that 'thinking cap' somewhere in a spot where it will make you laugh often.

Sunny/rainy greetings from Georgia/USA

Hi Tammy,
Thanks for stopping by my blog! Oh, I don't know if I could live in the desert! We have a lot of trees in Oregon and I would really miss them.
Your bedside table looks like mine! Stack of books that I STILL reading. My husband always ask me how I can keep track of the stories? I love Janet Evanovich too. When my mother was dying of cancer earlier this year, I took her books to read about 3 times a week and she loved the J. Evanovich books. She said it felt good to laugh.
Have you lived in Kuwait very long?
Blessings to you,
Sonya
