Kuwait Textile Arts Association

Last nite I went to the seasons first meeting of KTAA.

Friends have been trying to get me to join for years, but I had never done so until last nite.

Mainly because my friend, Kathy, is the President this year .

Last nite's presentation was about Islamic motifs in art.

The Sadu House is an artistic house and museum.

It was established in the early 80's in order to preserve the handicrafts and weavings of the Bedouin women.

Meetings of KTAA are held the second Tuesday of every month.

Many workshops are available throughout the year so I plan to take advantage of some of the evening classes. Plus Kathy will be hosting bi-weekly Wednesday meetings of the Yarn and Fiber Group so I am looking forward to that.

The hours of each and every day just seem to go by way too fast. One more work/school day and then maybe, just maybe, I can find a little extra time in a day. Hope you are having a wonderful Wednesday. Friendship Blessings, Tammy

A great way to show support the arts here and also a great way to express yourself artisticly with your own talent. Hope those yarn and fiber classes work out for you and you learn something new.

This sounds like a great group to join. Not only will you learn some new things, but I'm sure the women in it will be blessed to have you be a part of it too.

That sounds like fun to me...getting to learn about textiles and handiwork from other cultures plus learn some new skills. Can't wait to hear more about your classes.

I think it's great that you have the opportunity to learn more about art and be with your friend and new people. I know it is hard to fit an extra something in the week. I went to a crochet group tonight for the first time and it makes the day long, but I enjoyed myself. It was fun to chat with the other ladies and encourage those that are trying to learn to crochet.

I hope you will be able to share some of the art themes you will be exposed to.

Sending out your postcard tomorrow. It's just a little glimpse of my local area. I hope you can read my writing. I am notorious for my scribbling.

Have a great week!

It's good to connect with you again! I can imagine you might know about my wash day experiences. Mine were also hung on the roof top and the diapers especially were like stiff boards. Even when one had a totally automatic washer and dryer, the water pressure sometimes prevented it from working ... hope you have good water pressure. :-) Always enjoy your posts!

Thanks for stopping by for a chit chat on pumpkins. Even though I truly do live in the 'pumpkin capital' for real, I have all artificial pumpkins. Go figure!
The textile group sounds very interesting and you will need to keep us posted.

You know - I think of you often - I really do - and I am always wondering what avenues your life is taking you to next. You need to write a book my friend!

Thank you for posting about my giveaway on your amazing blog! I would LOVE for you to win - would love to send a little of fall and the changing colors to your side of the world. I will keep my fingers crossed for you!

What a lovely place to have your meetings. I love the fact that they have created a haven to show off and preserve arts and creativity. You are going to LOVE the Islamic Museum of Art. The exhibits they have inside are so intricate and beautiful. I look forward to hearing about what you learn by being a part of this wonderful group. I am predicting that you will come away with a new crafting talent.
Have a wonderful Friday!!

Love,
Renee
