Project Genesis

Today I am joining Old Grey Mare for Project Genesis where once a month we share our ideas for change. Simple ideas that help to improve the environment. Ideas that anyone can use to make an impact in their world.

We eat a lot of cereal at our house so there are lots of cardboard boxes each week that in days past would have been thrown out. (This is not the cereal we eat. :) A friend "gifted" these boxes to me for my projects.)

Since blogging, I've been inspired by so many out there who recycle, upcycle and reuse just about anything available for crafting. Now all those cereal boxes are turned into gift totes using cheap or old gift wrap paper, Graphics Fairy images and any other embellishments on hand.

I also trace and cut them into tags.

Then decorate and embellish using scraps leftover from other projects.

This simple act of recycling helps me to feel better about my impact on the environment. And in turn, I have totes for gift giving and tags with messages and images that spread a little joy to others.

As Ghandi said "You must be the change you wish to see in the world." Peace & blessings, Tammy

Hi Tammy,
Great idea! For my birthday, a friend used a Kleenex box that she painted, stamped, glittered, etc as a gift box. She added a handle to it and now it holds all my birthday cards. Hope you are enjoying your trip right now!

Hi Tammy,
You always have the best recycling projects and I admire how you are making an effort to reduce the amount of trash that goes into the landfills. I know you are "gifted" boxes for projects from friends so you are keeping their boxes out of the landfills too!!
I always enjoy seeing the beautiful packages and tags you create from these everyday items.

I really love your recycled boxes....I am going to try that too. I'm not into scrap booking so don't have many supplies but I bet just covering it in wrapping paper and adding ribbon handles would look pretty good too.
Thanks for sharing your day with us!

Your ideas are lovely as always. I wish you had been doing this while I was in Kuwait, with all the gift exchanging we used to do! HA! Maybe they will make their way to Qatar. We just got back, and it all looks very positive. They made an offer to Omar, and he accepted verbally. There is a background check to be done, but it all is coming together. We might well be neighbors again!! Tell Sam that the next family vacation is to Doha!!! More very soon!!

Hope you are having a wonderful time with Gwen!!

Love ya,
Renee
