Walk With Me

One sure sign that the weather is warming up is the fact that the ants start taking over my potted plants outside and they also manage to find any little crack to make their way inside.  It's become a real battle when summer rolls around.

For the past couple of days, I've stayed home to clean.
Cleaning leads to organizing and that leads to messes.
Another battle.
One that seems to be never ending.

But today I needed to go to the grocery store so managed to take a little walk while I was out.
The palo verde are a gorgeous golden sight to see with their pale green trunks and pretty yellow blooms.
The bees are still out in full force feeding on nectar and pollen.
Moment is a flower.
Mindfulness is sipping the nectar of that flower.
(Amit Ray, Mindfulness Living in the Moment - Living in the Breath)
Really love seeing the transformation of these beautiful flowers into fruit.
Ancient Egyptians regarded the pomegranate as a symbol of prosperity and ambition.
Mulberries are similar to blackberries and are very much loved by the birds.
I recently finished reading The Nature Fix which I really enjoyed.
It's an easy book to read and highlights some really interesting research that's going on regarding the benefits of spending time in nature.
As long as the weather is bearable, I'll be out getting my fix.

Have a wonderful Wednesday.

I like your photos of beautiful flowers and that book sounds interesting. When I see ants in my kitchen I spray the area with Mrs. Meyers multi-surface cleaner, which is nontoxic. I don't know if you can buy it where you are, the ants don't like it!

Certainly looks lovely there from your pix Tammy. Plenty of color and lovely fruits.
Yes I had the beginning of an ant problem this week after the storms and heavy rain - they found a way into the kitchen but I went to work on them immediately with spray and a trap and I don't see any now. I really dislike having anything creepy crawly in my kitchen around food!

Belatedly, Happy Birthday, Tammy! I have enjoyed catching up on your posts, and thank you so much for visiting with me on my last one. Your photos are amazing! Your tree of life pendants are really lovely... a beautiful new skill. I am so glad you got to visit some of your family in Jerusalem and thank you for sharing some of your views there. Your good example of getting out and about walking encourages me to do likewise. We had some sunshine this afternoon after many gray drippy days and I admired the sunny blue skies as I walked out to get the mail. :) xx

Is the bottom flower a plumeria? I fell in love with them when I lived in Hawaii as a young woman. You have such exotic plants that thrive there! We're off to the beach day after tomorrow.. I'm looking forward to being there.

((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Having a problem leaving a comment Tammy - trying again!

Looks to pretty everywhere with the colorful flowers and fruits.
I too had an ant problems this week - after heavy rains they found access to my kitchen counter from the window frame - luckily I managed to send them packing with a spray and an ant trap. I really get nervous when there are crept crawlers around my food!

Happy days - Mary

Hi Tammy, Such a beautiful walk. You have gorgeous flowers and I always love walking with you because you find beauty everywhere. We had lots of mulberry bushes in our yard in Iowa while I was growing up. We would pick them straight from the bushes and eat them warm from the sun. Wonderful memories. Then we would go inside with purple stained hands and faces and Mom knew exactly what we had been up to but she was never angry. I had a wonderful childhood. Thank you for taking us with you today. Oh, and I've slowly been organizing and giving/throwing lots of stuff out. I don't know where it all came from but I certainly don't want to move it all when we retire!
Have a lovely Thursday my friend.
Blessings always,
Betsy

I know winter is over for us when the creepy crawly black spiders start scurrying across the floors. I am not their biggest fan, shame they won’t stay outside. The Nature Fix sounds good. Hopefully I can check out a copy from the library.

Isn't it ironic that to tidy and reorganise involves making a mess first?
I love your pomegranate pictures. I have an espaliered pomegranate tree in my garden and the fruits are ripening. I harvested the first couple this week. I just LOVE their sweet juice. Plus they are so hardy.
I'm keen to find that book after your recommendation.
Thank you for taking me on your walk again.

The views are lovely in your world, Tammy. It would be something special to see the pomegranate flower turn into fruit. Such a wonder! Glad you are enjoying your walks. We enjoy seeing the sights, too, especially all the bees.

I need to get back to organizing and getting rid of things we do not need anymore. I was on a roll last year but puttered out. Love your beautiful walk Tammy. Sending you a hug full of friendship and love.

Thanks for taking us along on your walk. I had no idea that pomegranates start out as big, beautiful flowers like that. They look like hibiscus! Mulberry trees are our nemesis. Our next door neighbor has two of them that border our property. One of them hangs directly over the walkway to the patio and the patio itself. The berries drop by the thousands onto the walkway, into the perennials and all over the patio - and then they rot. They're impossible to keep up with as far as cleaning them up, so we're left with stinky, rotting berries which attract flies, stains all over our patio and patio furniture, and stepping on them as we're walking so then the rotten berries are stuck to the bottoms of our shoes. We've had her tree trimmed back a few times (which costs a fortune), but because the tree is so huge, the berries still manage to fall onto our property.

Lovely photos on your walk! I did not know that about the pomegranate tree! On your ant problem........you can place black pepper or another pepper spice around you containers.......that might help.

Hi Tammy...Had to chuckle over the ants arrival. Guess what? They have made their spring appearance here, too! Oh, how I loathe seeing them get inside and find their way in little armies to my kitchen counters. Squish, squish, squish....no mercy from me for those little bothersome critters. HOW do they get in? Who knows? But I want them OUT. Hope you have a lovely spring. Is it spring there? Hugs. Susan

Tammy - I can relate to cleaning = organizing = mess. It almost always has to get worse before it gets better! Love the pictures of the pomegranates - such an amazing fruit. I remember mulberry trees from my childhood - they always left such a mess underneath! Thanks for the book recommendation - I am going to the library tomorrow and I will look for it. Enjoy the rest of your week.

Great photos, Tammy. And I can also relate - this season makes me want to spend as much time as possible outside and do as much spring cleaning as possible inside. And didn't I just do a winter declutter? It never ends.

Dearest Tammy,
Wow, what a bubbly post with heavenly blossoms!
Your Palo Verde blossoms did remind me of our trip to Arizona, three years ago in March.
https://mariettesbacktobasics.blogspot.com/search?q=Palo+verde
We LOVED the sight of those yellow blooms and they sure make one happy.
Like you mention, it makes you healthier, more aware and grateful for life when observing and absorbing it all around you!
Thanks for sharing your daily gems with your readers.
Ants are a nuisance, that is a fact! They better stay outside in their free range territory.
Hugs,
Mariette

I never would have guessed that stunning blossom is a pomegranate flower! I learn so much from your posts, Tammy - thank you!
