Merry Christmas Eve

Well folks, according to my youngest son it's been way too long since I last updated my blog.  Several friends have made the same comment so here I am, a month after my last post.
I'm happy that both my boys are home for the holidays but unfortunately, their trip here was not without difficulty.  Their very first flight on Wednesday morning experienced mechanical problems and let's just say that it was downhill from there.  They missed their international connection and wound up having to spend 2 days in Chicago.  Instead of arriving Thursday afternoon, they just arrived yesterday evening, frustrated and tired, but thankfully safe and sound.
I've been crocheting and doing a lot more cross-stitching than usual.  On Saturday, the 16th, I even held a cross-stitch workshop along with Mini (from the blog Miniz Diary) at The Secret Garden.
The boys wanted to rest up and relax today after their travel ordeal so we've just been hanging out at home.
I made vegan pancakes for breakfast.  They both say that they have no taste, but topped with cashew butter, jam and sliced banana and they taste pretty delicious to me.
This afternoon I crocheted some very simple star ornaments.  You can find the pattern on the blog One Dog Woof
The moon and a colorful winter sky to end the day.
Happy Holidays!

Tammy - I have been wondering where you got to ... so glad you've posted again! International travel can be very frustrating. Flights are scheduled so tightly these days that one leg that goes awry puts the whole trip off track. I hope that you enjoy the rest of their visit. Thanks so much for how you have welcomed me to the blogging community this year - it has meant a lot to me. Happy holidays to you and your family!

Your family is together and that's the most important thing!
I also wondered what has happened and thought they my feed is having a glitch or something and I even visited a couple of times in the past two weeks, just to make sure I am not missing on anything :)

Glad your boys came home safe and could spend a relaxed holiday at home. Good to know you have such crafty meets and workshops in your place and Mini and her team has been successful in gathering crafting people.

Hi Tammy,

Glad your boys got home safe and sound. I've had my share of delayed overseas flights in my time, and I can understand their frustration and exhaustion.

Your cross stitch could easily be a nod to Jingles, with the ginger cat and red and white accents, resembling its blanket!

Merry Christmas to you and yours and happy holidays!

Jingles!!!
Glad the boys made it safely - if slowly - home. Happy holidays to you and yours!
You'll laugh when I tell you: at first glance I thought that ornament was a red star with snow on it. I really did! Then I laughed at myself.
Just yesterday I watched part of a video about recreating historic recipes at Mount Vernon, and the cook made hoecakes (very simple cornmeal batter fried in a skillet) with cayenne of all things! She said it was commonly used, but I'd have to watch the whole video to see if she meant specifically used in hoecakes because the taste was considered bland without. I've never heard of such a thing, but then, I learn something new every day. And I suppose they didn't have bananas and peanut butter :)

Thank goodness your boys arrived safely and you are all together for the holiday season.
That photo of your cat curled up asleep on the blanket must exemplify the boys' feelings when they finally arrived. It is nice that you can all have a quiet time at home together. How lovely that you still had time for crafting at such a busy time of year. Very cute cross stitches and stars. Have a wonderful time with your family. It must warm your heart. Season's greetings, Tammy xx

Hi Tammy so happy you stopped by.
70's is the perfect temperature for me too-here in Missouri the summers are just too hot-I will never get used to the full sun here being closer to the earth as it was where we lived in northern Illinois-your summers would be just way too hot for me for sure.
sorry your boys had such a tiresome trip home-hope they did not have to go back so soon and could stay longer. but so glad they made it there in time for the holidays
I love your star ornament-very pretty
Happy Holidays to all of you and Happy New Year as well hugs from Missouri Kathy

I think the pancakes looks delicious.
But I must admit I have never eaten pancakes
with peanutbutter and bananas on top.
Maybe I should try? :)

Jingles is so sweet on the lovely blanket
I guess you made by yourself.

Blessings!

Dearest Tammy,
Happy that your two boys arrived home safe after being stuck for two days in Chicago!
Haha, they don't appreciate their Mom's healthy cooking after having eaten all American food... They better DO!
Like you, I ran behind in time as only yesterday I started reading blogs again. So much I had to catch up on, like laundry and cleaning and off we went for Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve in Jacksonville, FL.
Went more south after that and yesterday my dear friend from Miami, who used to live in our town, came to visit us at the Hyatt House we stayed. Great for having such a one bedroom suite with full kitchen, it is like being home!
Hoping to meet with more friends this year... the time is running out.
Enjoy having your family complete and wishing you all a Happy New Year!
Hugs,
Mariette

Hi Tammy, I do not know if we can live together very sweet, but we want it very much. You are doing cross-processing very nice, I like to do this job very pleasantly and comfortably. The boys' mood in the ride was annoying but I was very glad that they were good and healthy. Do not take too long for blog posts because we enjoy reading and watching... :)
