Peaceful Energy

I  stopped watching tv and reading the news several years ago to limit the constant bombardment of negativity, yet now I am caught up in it particularly because of what's going on in Turkey.
We are flying Turkish Airlines soon.  The US had temporarily cancelled all incoming flights from there so I guess the bright side is that this year I decided to fly into Canada to visit some of my in-laws before heading to the States.
This Prevention article from October 2007 entitled
"What a Wonderful World" is very relevant for today and voices how I feel.
I have to remind myself that there really is more good than what is reported in the news.  That it is a wonderful world.
Right now there just seems to be a whole lot of crazy which can be very unsettling.  And I wonder, is it crazier?  Or do we just hear more than usual?
I've been spreading a bit of crochet love around my corner of the world the past couple of days.
And today received this wonderful wooden plaque from a friend.
Inspiring advice from a rainbow.
Sending peaceful energy and thoughts out into the world as we view the full moon tonight.
Hoping and praying for a period of peace after so much chaos the past few weeks.
With light and love,

p.s.
In case you didn't see it, I was able to retype your comment on my giveaway post :)
And I watched your son's class video twice - pretty amazing! So much creativity and coordination, and very high production values for students that age, I would have thought! I found myself singing their song for the rest of the day :)

There is good in the world. But it takes a blogger to write about quiet moments, friendship and inspiration, newspapers would not bother. Be safe.

Thank you dear for spreading love and light into our world. I, too, am thinking we have far too much information and instant access to the sadness in the world. It is time for humans to stop and show kindness and respect instead of hatred and horrific acts of violence. The moon is glorious and gives me hope. Stay safe my friend...

Your sketch book is lovely!! We always try to look towards positivity but then it also gives a feeling that we are not bothered about people and sufferings in certain part of the world. Travel safe.

We all need a lot of positive and peaceful energy. I don't watch TV or news either, but then you can't really escape the bad things going around in the world.
Wishing you safe journey . have a good vacation.

Some beautiful thoughts. Interestingly, my August column that I'm working on right now is about this subject from a different view however in that I firmly believe this is the result of living in a sinful, fallen world. I don't believe realistically it will ever change. It's been that way since the beginning of time and will continue to be that way. That doesn't mean we have to live without hope though - quite the contrary when we focus on God and in living by faith. Like you, I don't watch the news or follow it closely. I'm aware of the issues of course, but in my genealogy research I've read several old news databases and it's amazing the amount of crime that went on around 1900. Same as now really in the horrific stories but not reported on (or sensationalized) in the same manner of course.

I hope you have safe travels and keep your beautiful, positive outlook that is so evident through your lovely sketches, photographs and thoughts. :)

It's scary to open the newspapers nowadays. I often wonder if the world is really becoming worse day by day or are we just being exposed to more negativity now than before. Love your sketchpad drawing.

There is so much that is wonderful in our world, unfortunately I think it's getting crazier. I wish you save travels. We leave Sunday for the Rockies. Woo Hoo!

I love how you always brighten up your corner of the world with your crochet and your caring of others. The world is a scary place and with the way that people act now, so selfishly it seems, I don't see it improving. I wish all people had your outlook on life. I'm wishing you a safe trip to Canada and the US and pray things improve in Turkey.
Blessings my friend,
Betsy

I never watch the news on TV or listen to it on the radio, but I do read it about it online if a headline catches my eye. I can't take the negativity. Like you, I choose to focus on the good and the positive. Spread little seeds of kindness. I'm glad that you'll be able to fly into Canada and I pray you have a safe trip.

I don't understand what is going on either. I have never lived through anything like this before and it scares me, but, I am determined to go on. I will not give in. It is so horrid though and so very sad. I hope your travels will be good ones and great fun too. xx

Dearest Tammy,
The entire media is focussed on negative news anyway and good deeds and happy moments are seldom shown to the world...
Yes at times we have to fill that in for ourselves and remain positive.
Having to travel is at times scary though. One never knows when and where such evil people will attack innocent others...
I also right away contacted a dear friend, who's parents had left for Turkey. They were fine, she spoke to them but we all don't know how things will work out.
Sending you hugs and enjoy the meaningful rainbow gift.
Mariette

Tammy -- lovely words and photos. Your newspaper article features words of a favorite song of mine. I particularly like it sung by the Hawaiian singer Israel Kamakawiwo'Ole. In case you haven't heard him here is a video of him singing Somewhere Over the Rainbow which has the same words as your article.

Thought I left a comment yesterday but apparently it did not go through. Your old article reminded of my favorite person who sings the song and passed in 1989. Here is the address:

Like you, I don't watch the news anymore as it seemed to be filled with negativity. I always try to focus on the positives. Occasionally, I may come across snippets that friends post on social media or my family may mention something that's happening to me. From what I've read/heard this past week, there is certainly troubling times at the moment. :(

It's so lovely to see your uplifting post, Tammy. Your sketches, quotes, and crochet pieces are beautiful!

Wishing you safe travels ~ xo

Tammy, you always spread peace and love. You have a generous, kind heart. I, too, believe in the goodness of those around me. We do live in a beautiful world full of caring people. Yes, there is evil, but I try to look at all the goodness that is done every day. I hope you have a good visit with your friends and family.

I hope and pray you have a good trip, Tammy. Seeing family is always uplifting. I like the way you think and many have turned away from the news, it goes 24/7 and sometimes we can't seem to escape it. For myself, I want to be informed. As we are experiencing all of these terrible attacks in our world, I can only hope that it will spur more people to do what they can, anywhere from donating blood, to money for aid. I once read something someone said and it resonated with me. "The only thing worse than watching the news is being part of it." Makes me so sad but it's reality. We really need to pray and fight for worldwide peace.

Dearest Tammy,
I also have stopped to read newspapers and watch television news years ago - the same reasons as you - but at the moment there is happening much evil not so far from Austria. Not only in Turkey - the terrorist attacks in France and Germany during the last days & weeks … well: You could not hide them, you could not miss them... I hope the same things like you - it is not the right way to spread fear and terror. Never before there were so many terrorist attacks in the world as this year - there is a list of attacks on the Internet and it’s shocking - most of them are "religiously motivated". No God wants that! No country will be more livable by war and destruction.
I wish so much that there will be understanding - SOON!
And I wish you and your family that you can spend nice days together - no bad news! Just peaceful ...

Hugs from Austria, my dear, and happy summer-days!
