Drop a Rock Day

I have never done Facebook or Twitter.
And never could get into Pinterest.
But Instagram, I LOVE for instant inspiration.
@love_is_action_movement declared today, Sunday, July 3rd, as #droparockday ... asking people around the world to join in by painting a word or quote on a rock and dropping it in a public space to help make the world a kinder place.

I was up for the challenge and did the best I could with a few rocks I had laying around and old acrylic paints.  Also hung a few hearts that were donated by a friend in my craft group.
First stop, the playground at the park a few blocks from where I live.
Next was the playground at my local walking path.

And finally, the playground at the beach just down the road from me.
I hope that a few kids along with their moms will find these little gifts and appreciate them.

Mission accomplished so had a quick walk along the beach.
Lots of jellyfish spotted today.
And even found my own little gift.
Another heart-shaped rock.

Happy Sunday!

What a lovely idea and how sweet of you to even add a crochet heart to each pretty stone. On a lot of occasions you have made that town a kinder place, Tammy.

This day sounds like it was custom made for you! How nice of you to give your gifts to whomever loves them. I admire you so much. I'm making potato salad and baked beans today for our BBQ for the 4th of July tomorrow! Big doings! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

I won't have my rocks out today but I will this week. This idea is awesome! I love the ones you've left for others to find.

Tammy -- Nice post. Like the idea of spreading the word of kindness -- sure need it in many places. I imagine some children will find those neat rocks you set out at the playgrounds. I feel that they will get a big smile and feel they have found a treasure. -- barbara

What a fun idea!
You've chosen such fine words and "planted" positive messages everywhere you dropped a rock!

This sounds so great but I've never herd of it! Love your beach treasures. Do you live close to the shore?

Take care,

Jane

Love the drop a rock project. I have many rocks in my flower pots with things written on them. The grands used to help me do that. Now I will probably start dropping them somewhere. I get such good ideas from you. Hope you don't mind if I copy from you.

What a great idea! I've never heard of the "rockaday" and I have a hard time with Instagram....do you have to follow people? I'm a Pinterest gal but only because I don't know how Instagram works. Happy 4th of July!

Dearest Tammy,
You are so good at painting those rocks and even matching colors with the crocheted hearts! Some kid will be smiling and a Mom thinking... Lots of ripple effect; no doubt.
Sending you hugs,
Mariette

PS those Outlets have gone down compared to the 90s and early 2000s. Most things I don't like and like you; I seldom buy anything. Being already for 50 years the same weight and size, gives me plenty of clothes to wear and often the older ones are far better quality than the new ones.

I love this! What a nice thing to do. Your rocks are so positive and encouraging. I hope whomever found them felt uplifted for the rest of the day. Have a good week and take care, Tammy.

My grands would love this idea. We just may have to try it. Seems there's so much hatefulness in our country right that it might be a nice gesture to add a little thoughtfulness. Jan

Sounds like a fun project. It would be interesting to see how people react when they discover your gifts. :-) What a beautiful beach for a walk!

This world of ours could do with a lot more kindness and if leaving beautiful heartfelt message rocks helps then I shall join the efforts...and even though I missed the official day I believe we need to do this often...maybe even every day. Thank you Tammy for sharing this and your lovely rocks and the crocheted hearts. Happy Beachy Summer...
