Let There Be Love

I really do strive to spread joy, scatter kindness and give love.  But there are days and people that really try my patience.

If God is testing me, then I have failed miserably several times this week.  I am unable to tolerate folks who drive like bats out of hell; dumb drivers on smart phones; and rude, selfish women in department stores.  I've lost my temper in public twice and uttered words that I don't normally use.

I choose now to dwell on peaceful, lovely things like collared doves and the crooning of Nat King Cole.

And tomorrow I will remember that "positive thoughts generate positive feelings and attract positive life experiences.

Have a great day!

Those are such beautiful photos of the lovely doves and I love Nat King Cole!

As for people. Well, I'm not one to give advice about that because honestly I am NOT a people person. In fact, most days, I arrive home after being annoyed by drivers always in a hurry, those who I cannot relate to, and I profess that when Jim and I retire, I want to live in a cabin in a remote location and I MEAN IT. Nothing would give me more happiness than to live in a rural location far away from people, where the only visitors to our property are bears, deer and birds, where we can just live off the land and live how we want. Seriously, he and I have discussed this dream often and it can't come soon enough (most days)! :)

Don't be harsh on yourself Tammy! We all have one of those days when you don't feel quite yourself, when your tolerance level is too low (or non-existent), when you can easily get ticked off - at least I do!
And then, there you have these sweet birds to rest your eyes and mind upon :)
Enjoy your day!

Oh Tammy, I had to smile as one of the questions in my Bible Study this week was what were some things that rob our joy and frustrate us... My list was almost yours to a T.
We experience some very very "stupid" forgive my language. motorcycle drivers Sunday on our way home from church. Doing "Wheelies" on the 4 lane freeway...I expected to see a pile up further down the road..but thank heavens we didn't.

Hi Tammy
We live in such a beautiful, wonderful world but the people in it can sometimes test us.
Tomorrow is another day.

Those things drive me nuts too! I uttered a few things in December at rude people in stores. I normally don't but that month is just filled with crazy people out and about and I'd reached my limit. Ooooooom!! ;-)

I love doves! They're so sweet!

Peace! :-)

I can't imagine you being THAT annoyed Tammy. :-). There are days like that though. You know what surprises me is that the anonymity of the Internet seems to cause the "mean gene" to come out in some people. Especially on social media like facebook. I'm so thankful for my blog friends who give unwavering support.
The dove pictures are beautiful. That had to cheer you up my friend!
Blessings,
Betsy

Your Doves are lovely and look like liquid velvet...sort of like the voice of Nat King Cole. Tomorrow will be a fresh new day and hopefully you will not have to endure any of those annoying situations. Blessings Dear...

You are very smart to let the doves and pretty music soothe your soul. I guess we all have to deal with those rude type people. I asked some younger people if they could scoot over so I could sit down at the program last night.. and they said no! I asked at the next bench.. and they said no too! Amazing. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

Mellow and beautiful post, Tammy.
Don't be too hard on yourself. Sometimes it's rough out there. Thank heavens we have our homes to come home to, our lovely birds to enjoy, and peace where we live. Diane

Sometimes people are just intolerable! Thank heavens we have our blissful cocoons to come home to, our lovely birds and flowers to feast our eyes on, and sweet, soft music. Hugs, Diane

I hope your day is better tomorrow - for all those people you collided with too! Maybe it's the full moon ...

What beautiful doves, and soothing to contemplate them. One of my favorite Scriptures is exactly what you are suggesting: "Whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report, if there be any virtue and if there be any praise, think on these things." Philippians 4:8

"And there will be days like these", my mama said. Loved the doves. Wishing you a better day tomorrow.

Those days come to all of us. But then the day ends and there comes a new one, fresh and clean! Focusing on the beauties of nature is a wonderful way to calm oneself. Love the delicate colour of the mourning doves.

You know Tammy we are all human and there are enough rude people to try the best of us. Your photos are so beautiful

I know how upsetting some days are. All I do is try to forget and if we are not wrong, why bother and think about others who annoyed us.

Oh, sometimes it is just so hard!!! I told Evan Sunday after serving in the nursery at church I just wasn't sure I could keep doing it... there is a child who has started coming I just STRUGGLE with loving. STRUGGLE! I don't even know why... he is a WHINER, but I usually am good with dealing with getting little folks in a better humor...

So your lack of patience with rude, inconsiderate and unthoughtful adults seems of a much higher plane than the intolerance I am feeling for this child. Arggghhhh! I'm going to have to REALLY work on the positive! ;) Here's to our dove days ahead!! hugs and blessings ~tanna

Oh Tammy, it's so human to lose our cool from time to time. So very human.

What matters is that you are constantly trying to do better. That is commendable. Some people don't even bother! ha!

Your doves are darling. Peace out, "sistah." Susan

As others have said, it isn't your fault, so don't feel bad. However, I agree, why do these people do these things!! xx

I hear ya, Tammy! I strive to be pleasant, polite and smiley...but sometimes the rudeness of people out in public can really put a damper on things. Especially if I am feeling stressed myself, I can get mighty irritable, too. Try not to be so hard on yourself. It's called being human. ;-) I hope that tomorrow is a better day for you. I will be emailing you soon, too. Am very behind on emails, sorry.

Okay last night and this morning while driving to and from work I was almost hit twice by completely rude drivers that forced their way into my lane. I almost lost it, but tried to take a deep breath and relax but it was really hard.

People can be so annoying - except of course ourselves. No one could possibly find ME irritating, could they? ;)

It is hard to be always patient and kind. I think of what Ma Ingalls said to Laura - a quote from Tennyson, I believe - "Her voice was ever gentle, low, and soft, an excellent thing in woman." Impossible to attain!

We love Nat King Cole - such a lovely voice as he had. And your doves look so sweet and peaceful.

Here's to a better end of the week!

When my friend gets really annoyed at someone she says she is going to "walk in love" and let it go. LOL

Sometimes that is REALLY hard to do.

Dearest Tammy,
There are days when you would want to be able to push a button and send some people off to the moon...
Looking at animals makes me always admire their way of harmony.
Hugs to you and hope your Friday will be a blissful day of rest.

Rude people must be miserable, don't you think? I try very hard to just smile at them and not say anything. It doesn't always work but when it does and get that dumbfounded look from them, makes my day! Soothing doves and Nat King Cole seems a great recipe for getting your calm back.
Hugs,
Sharon

Hi Tammie! Your dove photos are beautiful! I love when they come and visit my feeders and nest in my hanging baskets. They really are peaceful birds! Don't be so hard on yourself Tammie, it's normal human reactions and we all have those "off" days. I'm now seeing a therapist twice a month for my problems, because I just couldn't handle people and my job anymore. Don't get me started about bad driving! Hot topic for me. I just take a deep breath, let it go and listen to Sirius/XM Elvis Radio! I'm with Linda. Live in the woods with the bears, wolves, deer and birds. Sounds like Heaven!

Tammy...I know how you feel and we have all been through similar experiences. I pride myself on being patient, in letting people have the benefit of the doubt. But sometimes I wonder if I'm a pushover, I mean we have to stand up for ourselves at some point! And sometimes we are simply pushed to the point of not being very kind in the way we express our frustration. My husband always says, "Be the better person." He also says, "There is no excuse for bad manners." Hmmmm...food for thought!

After 66 years I finally figured it out...I love being alone! Being retired helps loads! I don't have to put up with anyone. I think there are "bullies" that grew up into adult bullies and there are also people who are unhappy and think they have the right to take it out on everyone else.
I don't go to church but I believe that the biggest blessing and honor we can give to God, ourselves, and others is to be happy. Can you imagine if everyone was happy and treated everyone with dignity and respect and consideration what a wonderful world this would be?
It's not easy being one of a very few though. I wish you peace and serenity this weekend to refresh and renew your spirit.

We all have those days, Tammy, and sometimes, letting off a bit of steam is needed or we'd go crazy.

Sorry I haven't been around in a while. Life has taken some tough turns for me and I only just did a blog post after an unintended break. I have tried to keep up with you on Instagram though.

Have a lovely evening/day! xo
