Around the World Blog Hop

Lizzy at Gone to the Beach asked me to participate in an Around the World Blog Hop.  If you've not visited her before, and you love the beach and antique fabrics, then you are in for a treat.  It was her handmade lavender hearts that drew me to her blog many years ago.  And I am always in awe of anyone who can quilt as sewing is definitely not one of my fortes.

My assignment is to answer a few questions and then tag a couple of people to play along, so here goes.

What am I working on?

All I can really manage these days is small projects ...dishcloths, doilies, jar toppers, candle covers, bowls, flowers, gift bags.  And I do love making granny squares just for the heck of it.  If a project can be finished in 30 minutes, then I'm all for it.

How does my work differ from others?

I crochet and cross-stitch mostly just because.  I don't ever have a purpose or a plan.  I just like to be creative, even if only in short spurts.  Although I may not have a plan, I do have a mission ... to use what I have rather than running out and buying more supplies, which is always very tempting.

Why do I write/create what I do?

Over the years, I've made many cherished connections through blogging.  In person, I've met Maureen from The Moksi Homes, Val from Yarni Gras and Jan (who is no longer blogging).
I blog because of these friendships.  When I look through my sidebar and see all the blogs listed there, they aren't just websites, there are names and faces attached to each and every one. When I find the time to visit, it is like catching up with old friends.

Unfortunately, my blogging is rather sporadic lately.  I keep trying to find a balance but haven't gotten there just yet.

I know that everyone is very busy, so I appreciate that Kathy and Briony agreed to participate in the blog hop.

Kathy is retired and blogs from Missouri where she dyes fibers and fabrics with natural materials and makes luscious soaps.  She describes herself as a Mother-Earther and I would agree.  She is always up to something different each and every day.

Briony blogs from South East England; she is a crafter and a cat lover and is currently on an amigurumi kick.  Her husband Mr. T even crochets and sews, too.

Their posts will go up next Monday, October 27th but I hope you will go ahead and visit them now.

Today is my 20th wedding anniversary and we just happen to be in the middle of a very nasty dust storm that went from orange to blah.  Yuck!
Hope your day is a good one.
Best wishes,

Happy Anniversary! I hope the dust clears soon! I like the collage of your creative projects. Very cool! I love that you crochet and create just for the sake of creating and enjoying the process and not worrying about the outcome. I enjoy the process of creating but worrying about the outcome or the use of something I'm going to make really slows me down from the start and makes it hard to just decide what to do or where to begin. You are an inspiration and I'd love to be more relaxed with it like you. :-)

Happy Anniversary, Tammy. It was fun reading a little more about your creative process. I hope the dust storm wasn't too bad.

I'm with you on the 30-min. creative thing! I just can't keep the interest it seems for huge projects. I wish I could, but they tend to remain unfinished. I think it's great to meet new friends through blogs too. I haven't met anyone in person, although there was a gathering in my area in the summer I wasn't free that day :( I too am having trouble balancing blogging with other things in my life, and took a good long break recently. I'm back, but going slowly now. Happy Anniversary to you and your husband! I hope the dust settles so you can maybe head out to celebrate. Wendy x

Congratulations on your 20th anniversary! I hope you celebrated in a thoroughly joyous way, despite the dust storm :)
I am a bit behind on my blog-reading these days (spending so much time working hard on pre-winter projects outdoors - then collapsing into bed at a ridiculously early hour!) but I look forward to visiting your friends' blogs soon.
Take care - Q

Hi Tammy. Enjoyed reading your blog hop entry.

I agree with you that blog friendships are very, very special.

Happy (albeit dusty) anniversary. 20 years is a good record.

Take care and sending lots of positive thoughts your way. Susan

Happy anniversary, Tammy. This was a very interesting and joyful post on friendship and creativity. Your creations are so pretty - granny squares are fun because they don't take long and yet at the end you can put together an afghan or even a bedspread!! The most I've done with them is a small afghan. Always great catching up with you. Diane

Dearest Tammy,
Congrats to you both; for the USA it still is valid...
Just got home from the hospital at 7:30 PM and feel exhausted now. Hope I get a real good night sleep without being interrupted for my vitals or to draw blood.
Hugs,

First of all "Happy Anniversary" - have a memorable time today!
Love the selection of your work - sometimes these quick projects bring the greatest satisfaction.

This is neat! : )

I'm sort of the opposite of you in that I don't really create anything tangible. Instead, my creations are always planning the next big family get-together at our house. I love to host parties and to fill those get-togethers with my creativity.

Hope your anniversary was lovely despite the dust. Much continued happiness to you and your husband.

Kind regards,
Linda

I am with you on the sporadic and trying to find balance!! Oh, mercy, how scarce the commodity of balance seems!! And, I couldn't agree more with you about the wonderful friendships. I would never have guessed how much joy I would be blessed with in getting to know you and my other blog friends. It is a wonderful thing... worth trying to balance and attempt even in a sporadic fashion! Big hugs and blessings ~ tanna
ps HAPPY, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!

Hi Tammy!

Stopping by to say hi and wish you all the best. I´ve been away from cyberspace for a time now but hopefully I will be back soon. Maybe with some schedule like "blog once a week or so"... Struggling to find balance in my daily life between food, exercise, creativity etc.

So happy I´m back here and now I must read it all to see what you have been doing lately. :)

Have a wonderful weekend!

Happy anniversary! I hope that you will do something special to celebrate. I'm a sporadic blogger too; I simply write when I feel like it. I think that's how blogging should be...a desire to do so, not because someone else dictates you be on a particular schedule. I enjoyed reading about your creative endeavors!

Congratulations! your flower mandala coasters were the most clicked link in the September stash party. Hve a lovely day. :) xx
