The Difference in an Hour

For most people, we often marvel at the beauty of a sunrise or the  magnificence of a full moon, but it is impossible to fathom the magnitude of the universe that surrounds us.
Richard H. Baker

Yesterday morning I walked from 8:00-9:00 a.m.  Very warm, yes, but bearable.  It's amazing how the smallest grove of trees or bushes can literally cool the air down.

As you can see, there was nothing but blue skies.  When I took this next photo, there was a guy passing me in his car who rolled down his window and looked up.  He probably thought, what the heck is she looking at?
But seriously, how can you not be mesmerized by perfectly blue skies and gorgeous green leaves and beautiful blooms?
Today started off the same.
Nothing but blue.
A friend and I decided to explore a couple of new places we hadn't been to before.   I found Someday Cafe via Instagram so we headed there for breakfast.  Non-descript from the outside, but inside was completely different.
Quaint, shabby chic, comfy, cozy.
With good food in just the right portion sizes.
Enough for 2.
An hour later, as we left the restaurant, this is what we were greeted with.  Same palm tree, different sky.  An unexpected dust storm came blowing through.
Yuck!
Our next stop was the old American Mission Hospital built in the early 1900's which has now been turned into a cultural center.

We weren't able to take photographs inside but had a nice walk-through seeing Splendors of the Ancient East, Loans from the Kuwait National Museum, and Verses of the Holy Qur'an on Works of Art.
Kuwait Towers

A lovely morning spent with a very good friend.
I'm hoping that blue skies will have returned by tomorrow.
Wishing you all a wonderful new week.

Hi Tammy,
I've thought about you with all of the unrest in the neighboring country. That would make me very uneasy.
Yes, there is quite a contrast between the beautiful blue skies (and gorgeous flowers!) and dust, though I imagine dust is part of living in a desert region; that would be very difficult and I can't imagine it.
However, likewise, I try very hard to find trees to walk under for the relief from the summer heat, which is equally trying for me (with the high humidity that we're once again having). Unfortunately, our campus, beautiful as it is, doesn't have a lot of tree-lined walkways. There are tons of trees of course, but they're all out away from the sidewalks for the most part, so my lunch time walk was about half of what it normally is, but I just couldn't deal with the humidity.
Hope you have a nice evening and week! I'm detaching from all things online, except for some Instagrams, while we travel since I can simply upload those from my phone as we travel along in the coming weeks. :)
Take care,
Linda

What a dramatic change from glorious blue to extreme dust/sand. You keep finding interesting places to visit. What are those towers in the last photo? Water towers?

I love your posts, Tammy :-) You make me feel as though I'm walking and exploring with you. Amazing how that dust storm came up so quickly! I'm glad you were able to take some pretty pictures beforehand. You always find the beautiful in the everyday. Take care :-)

Those blue skies sure beat the dust storms! Looks awful. I love that restaurant you discovered - the inside is totally different decor from what you'd expect from looking at the outside. The hummus and pita bread looks so good and reminds me that I need to pull out my food processor and make a batch of hummus. I bought tahini the other day just for this purpose.

I hope the clear skies do return for you. Some very lovely walks! I too love to stare at the trees and sky - and yes, what an amazingly refreshing difference is made by even a small patch of shady trees. Have a great week! :)

Blue skies without a cloud are rare here and so very beautiful. I'd be craning my neck to look at them too. So glad you could spend time with a friend. The meal looked delicious. Hope the sandstorm clears and blue skies soon return.

Dearest Tammy,
Hah, it makes you laugh out loud when somebody rolls down the windows to look up...
But there are people on this planet that drive or walk past most of the little wonders that we are fortunate of noticing!
Lovely photos and I also love the blooms on that palm tree. Not in the last pictures where the dust is coming up. You did have all in all a perfect morning with a dear friend!
Hugs,
Mariette

Such beautiful blue skies and then dusty....I'm so glad we rarely get dust storms here. I like the Shabby Chic feel of the restaurant you ate at. Curious about what is on those large boards on the walls...pinned notes? I love the architectural settings where you live.

Certainly a lovely way to spend the day ~ xo
