Wandering, Walking, Collecting, Creating

It's amazing how one quick twist, one wrong move can throw you into agonizing pain.
On Thursday I wrenched my back.
I would like to say I was doing something exciting.
But no, I was vacuuming, of all things.
I've always had back problems because of scoliosis but I've never felt pain like this before.
I've never had pain that lasted more than a day.
After reading up on back sprains, and resting up for a few days, I decided it was time to get moving again.
It was slow going at first, but once my body began to warm up, it got easier.
I swear walking does more good for my mind than my body.
It helps me to collect my thoughts.
But these past few days it has also been necessary for healing.
The pain is still there, but not as intense.  I still have to be careful how I move or turn.
I collected quite a few things while out walking yesterday morning.
Bean pods, rocks, a seashell, feathers, leaves, weeds and an eggshell.

Unfortunately I've  not been doing any crafting lately, so I decided to get my creative juices flowing by doodling.
Today's biggest find was this.
Is it sad that I get excited about finding a rock?
Though not a great picture, it is the perfect size and shape.
I definitely feel a crochet project coming on.
Have a wonderful day!

Glad you're feeling better to walk. My sister has had scoliosis all of her life (they tried to correct it early on with a back brace which cut off the circulation in her leg and her leg collapsed and broke) and in fact Sarah was also diagnosed with a very slight curvature that has caused her severe pain from time to time... nothing to mess around with and glad you got some rest before resuming activity.

Jim and I were out on our bikes last evening, although it's 90 and humid, there was a nice breeze, and Sarah was out jogging at the same time, while most people seemed to be home cooped up in A/C. Our little central air unit can barely keep up with heat and needs to be completely redone, but we don't have the income for that right now, so we rough it and it stays about 80 inside.

Hope you've been enjoying a wonderful summer... we've done a lot of fun travels but still more to come. It's great to make the best of every day, and finding the simple joys as you do, in a nature's treasures. :)

Take care,
Linda

Hope you feel better soon. Your doodling on the leaf looks cute!! :)
No, it is not sad that you feel excited about finding a rock as long as you do not intend to use it for hitting ;) just kidding !! Hope you are not thinking of hitting me for this comment.
Also, not sure, did you try adding beads to your crochet for rocks ? I haven't done any crocheting for rocks, may be, beads will look good too.

Sorry to hear about your back. Back pain makes it hard to do anything. So glad you've been able to get out and walk and that it's helping. Best wishes for a speedy healing.

I understand your excitement about finding a pretty rock. I'm the same way. :-)

Hi Tammy.....golly I haven't visited in so very long. I love, love, the changes I see here. Your posts about walking and living a health lifestyle are so very encouraging to all of us.

Have a wonderful week, BTW...I, too, have scoliosis and it can really be painful at times...but you are being so very proactive in your care....that is the best thing.

Dearest Tammy,
Oh my, hope your pain soon will subside. Tell me about excruciating back pain, I could not sleep, not sit, not walk, not lie in bed almost four years ago. I pray that it never will hit me like that. It was months before I became paralyzed.
Keep your walking up and those stones are precious!
Hugs,
Mariette

Vacuuming is one of the worst things you can do, it can hurt your back and neck. It is really hard on your body, although it certainly needs to be done, especially at my house with Max fur floating around all the time. take it easy on the walk, slow and steady and not too far for a while.
Hugs to you and hope you are feeling better every day.

I hope your back continues to get better! Back pain can be so horrible. It's great that your walks can help heal the body and mind. I love the collection you picked up on this walk :)

It's official.. vacuuming is bad for you!! put it in the cupboard and forget about it. If the dust gets too thick ask a big strong boy to help you out.
Hope you heal quickly and enjoy your walks without pain.
Love your doodling.
Sending you smiles,
Angela.x

Hi Tammy....So good to see your post and to hear from you, too.

So sorry about the back. That is not pleasant.

Looks like you found treasures on your walk! You are amazing.

Steam bath (HOT steam bath) weather here and I do not like it one bit. Uh uh. I'm a cold weather kind of gal.

Take care. Susan

Dearest Tammy,
oh you poor! I know back pain also very good, and when I was at health spa for the first time, I was taught in Nordic walking. It also helps my body and my soul a lot!

Beautiful treasures from nature you found! I'm curious what creative projects emerge out of it! :o)

Warm hugs, Traude

Injuries are no picnic and a back injury is probably the worst. I sure hope you feel better soon. Good to know that it hasn't affected your creative juices. The leaf doodle was so cute.

I'm glad you were able to get out again after your enforced rest ... walking IS great for the mind and body both, isn't it?

What a nice collection of found objects. I envy you that smooth rock (and can totally understand your excitement) - all our rocks seem to be jagged and I never see ANY that would be suitable for crochet!

Hope your back continues to mend. :)

Tammy so sorry about your back. I understand your pain. Last month I was diagnosed with Costochondritis which is an inflammation of the cartilage in the entire rib cage. I was in horrific pain all around my upper chest and back for weeks. It seems to have slacked off but I feel it coming on again.
Im glad you were able to get out and what pretty finds. Your photos are beautiful. Is that the area you live in?

Oh back pain is the worst. Only had it twice, but when I did it was awful. Keeping you in my thoughts.
Love that you took your walk, and found your treasures.

I am so sorry you are having back pain. I know too well how it feels. Women are not supposed to vacuum...so I have been told. Be gentle with yourself dear. Walking on flat ground should help ease the pain. Ice and heat alternating are also good. I adore your treasures you found and the doodling on a green leaf is very creative. Now can it be dried and preserved?...

Tammy, I wish you speedy recovery and not to strain your back that much next time. I started having back aches from this year... and I am a little scared now, because I also used to have some kind of muscle pull few times, when turning not comfortably.
I am sure your walks will help you to fright pain and crochet will be a great relaxing activity too. Have a wonderful day!

Hope your back gets better Tammy. It's easy to do that kind of thing, hate to say it, as we get older. :) Love the found things. What is it about walking and picking up little treasures? Someone ask me once why I had feathers and rocks and leaves laying around on my shelves and tables etc. LOL It's hard to explain to someone who doesn't do that.
