Happy Mother's Day!

Unfortunately, my day did not start or end very well.
On the way to school this morning I watched as an injured pigeon on top of someone's SUV tried to hang on for dear life but was blown off.  He tried to fly but couldn't and sadly landed under mine.
Then this afternoon, on the second load of laundry, the washing machine broke.
My boys had not a clue that today was Mother's Day and my husband is out of the country.
But the bright spot was returning to my desk at school to find mail from bloggers.
And what wonderful mail it was.
When Vicki hosted the Grow Your Blog party in January, I visited Rachel at Blue Finch Jewelry and left a comment.
She generously offered to send a pair of handmade earrings to everyone who left a comment before February 1st (over 60 people).  Even though I emailed her back and said it wasn't necessary since I am so very far away, she said she didn't mind.
As you can see, the earrings made it here safely, the packaging is lovely and the earrings are absolutely gorgeous.
Rachel, thank you so much for your generosity!

In February, I joined the I Love Hearts Swap hosted by Shelley at All4Meggy Moo and also agreed to be her pen pal.  I received a lovely note from her today along with the sweetest popup card.
Unfortunately, I just checked and it doesn't seem that Shelley's blog exists anymore.
Will have to send her an email.
Whether you celebrate Mother's Day today or not, I do hope your day was filled with sweet surprises!
Best wishes,

Dearest Tammy

Oh no - that must have been the most awful feeling for you - the little pigeon is now in heaven with his/her other family members (not much consolation I know). I would feel just like you....

I'm so glad some lovely mail arrived on Mother's Day for you - the earrings from Rachel are lovely and that sweet card from Shelley too - just what you needed - to know that someone nice was thinking of you.

Take care and sending love and hugs across the seas to you
Shane ♥

Happy Mother's Day to you, Tammy! Although parts of your day were not too happy, I am so glad you had little bits and pieces of a fine day. I'm glad your boys discovered it was Mother's Day and made sure that you knew that they appreciated you.

Did you see my comment --- that you were the 14,000th commenter on my blog? Trivia, perhaps, but important to me! Thank you for always being an encouragement!!!

Warmly,
LaDonna

PS: I hope the washing machine gets fixed FAST!

I'm sorry you had such a rough day...and also glad that the best part came along to cheer you up. The card is so sweet and the earring ARE gorgeous!
Yes, it's Mother's Day here. I have 4 children and this year was 50%....2 of the 4 called and of course one was Ben who had been here and helped me with my landscaping so that was a "douzy" of a Mother's Day present! I always do the stats on Mother's Day and other holidays. This was surprisingly good at 50%! LOL!
I made myself a great breakfast and puttered the day away in rest and relaxation! Actually, every day is Mother's Day and now that I'm retired I'm The Queen Mother! Ha! Ha! Take care sweetie and pamper yourself tonight with some of your great crochet! I just posted about YARN that I got in the mail Saturday....I'm a happy Mother now....there's nothing a little yarn can't fix!

Mother's Day was completely ignored in my house too (as it is every year). So I know exactly how you were feeling a bit let down. It's so nice that your beautiful gift and letter came through on the exact day that you needed it. I hope that helped ease your heart, although I know it's not the same as being honoured by your own family. Hugs across the miles Tammy ... Wendy xox

Sorry your Mother's Day was a bit of a downer dear Tammy - but the boys love you every day throughout the year I know. My own son didn't get in touch with me - sadly his cruel wife won't allow it on any day of the year - and it is hard for me because I love him so much and miss him terribly.
I did get taken to lunch by daughter and granddaughter - that was a nice time - and then Bob took me to see the "Gatsby" movie which was lovely too.

Hope the week improves for you dear - and that someone gets your washer up and running again!

Hugs and good wishes coming your way.

oh that is so sad about the bird....I know that was hard for you. I've pulled over for birds....my family thinks I'm nuts. Of course, I cried once when a butterfly got squashed on my windshield!
I think your goodies are lovely and I hope you have a better week.

I'm sorry your Mother's Day had some unpleasant things in store...poor you about the pigeon, always a sad thing when that happens. I hope the coming week is much better with only nice surprises, like your lovely blog friends' mail!
Take care, Tammy.

I was wondering if they celebrate Mothers Day where you are. Seems like we celebrate something every week here. LOL Mine was good, talked to all three of my kids on the phone got a nice card and a new plant for the yard from my husband.
Are things getting better for you? Seems you have been down lately. The pigeon thing would have made me upset too. Hope all is better today.

My day also began with my son forgeting Mother's Day ... My daughter arrived for lunch and reminded him. A boy thing, it seems! Having him say sincerely 'Thanks Mum' or receiving a hug from him on any other day means just as much though x
