The Boy is Back

Our oldest son returned from his Senior Trip this morning.
Five boys away for a week.
Their first trip without parent supervision.
I was nervous sending him away.
His father said it would be a good experience.
After all, he will be going away to college this year.
He returned with gifts just for me.
The boy knows me well.
They had a good time though the weather was much colder than expected.  And it was very quiet since it was still the off season.
The photos of sand and sea that he shared with me while away inspired these little gift bags.
I made some last year in July as seen here (starfish patterns included).
Have a wonderful day!

Gosh, they have to grow up, don't they. What a sweet boy bringing gifts for his mama. I don't think most boys think that way - you have done a great job with him!

He remembered you while he was gone! Now that is a great son! We do worry don't we? I thinks it's in the Mom genes. I'm very worried about my 23 year old in Tokyo right now with the missile thing and all. He tells me not to worry, but that's like saying stop breathing to a mom!
I'm glad your son is home safely.
Blessings,
Betsy

Oh yes, I know the feeling. My youngest is my son who is 29, and yes I still worry....about all of them, but him mostly. He travels all over the country, maybe that's why. LOL
That's sweet your son brought you gifts. Makes you feel good to know they are turning into 'giving' adults.
Lovely photos.
Sometimes my son will text me a photo of some birds he has seen, wherever he may be, because he knows how I love the birds. He has that love of birds also.

Hello Tammy, Time passes way to fast and son or sons fly quickly. I had a difficult time when the last one went sailing with the Navy to the other side of the earth. But your love and upbringing will see him through.. Love your wee By The Sea gift bags... Way to cute. Hugs Judy

What a great place for a school trip - bet he enjoyed it all, especially shopping for his mom - he did well!!! Know you were thrilled with the lovely gifts and of course having him safely home again.

Where is going to college? Will he still be able to live at home or is he going far away? Wish him luck - and you be strong now that the empty nest days are ahead!

Hugs from pollen covered NC.

Sounds like your son had a wonderful time and how sweet that he brought back gifts:) My youngest graduates in June and starts a one year masters program. I can't believe they are grown! From the day they are born, we instill values and teach them to be successful adults that contribute to society. Then suddenly that's what they're doing! It's tough to let go and I don't think we (as parents) stop worrying. Once a parent, always a parent:)

So glad I found your blog!

Hi Tammy

As parents, we'd always worry but they need to experience. Good you let him have his vacation. How sweet of him to have brought gifts for you. They'd be treasured. My lil girl was in 4th grade when she brought something for everyone of us at home while being away on a school trip. We were touched and we still treasure those gifts :)

I think off season and cold mean a lot less trouble to get into. You are a brave Mom, it is hard to let them go away even for a week.
Hugs to you Tammy,

Dearest Tammy,
Yes, with mixed feelings a Parent awaits these mile-stones of a child. But all went well and it was a good experience!
Your little treasures resemble his trip very well and he was sweet for bringing you those gifts!

Glad he got home safely, and how thoughtful that he brought you gifts! It's hard to let them go, but it's so important that we have the courage to do just that.

What a thoughtful son to bring you back such nice gifts! Glad to hear they had a nice time. I would have been nervous too as I'm such a worrywart when it comes to my kids. When Reece travels abroad, I worry, and it's always a relief when he arrives back safe and sound. They have to live their lives and we can support them but, as Mothers, we still have the right to worry no matter what their age. I love your sea-themed gift pouches. Thanks for the link.

Have a great weekend! xo

Hi Tammy...Glad your son is back safe and sound.

Gosh, the thought of him going away to school in the USA must fill you with apprehension (and happiness.)

Well, just take one minute at a time. For now, he's home. Take care. susan

So glad your boy is back safe! It is so scary to let our kiddos go out into the world without us. My hubby is pushing me that way with my girl and it is tough. I know next year she will be away at college an hour away. I can't image having a kiddo have a world away!

So glad he made it home safely, Tammy. And wasn't he a sweetie pie for remembering his mama. Your little gift bags are cute. I can see using something like this to collect shells from walks on the beach. Have a great weekend!

Tammy- it's awfully hard to let loose the ties that keep our babes in the nest. Of course we raise them with the goal of growing up and being productive on their own--- but it's hard to let loose. Although this was surely difficult for you- it was no doubt a wonderful first venture for your son. I know you must be so proud of him. He was SO thoughtful to bring back gifts for you-- (that is such a good son!!)
