Unplugged and Unsteady

When we travel, I don't take a cellphone or a laptop.

Isn't the purpose of vacation to unplug?

Doilies were crocheted last week while on airplanes and car rides.

During travel times and layovers, just give me a hook and some yarn and I'm a happy camper.

But I am not such a happy camper right now when it comes to my ankle. At the urging of friends, I did go to the emergency room yesterday to have it checked out. An xray showed nothing. I was told to do what I've been doing, pain relief cream and wrap it, but it's not helping. Walking is painful, especially first thing in the morning.

I hope my ankle will be better with some rest over the weekend. But if not, then I have an appointment Saturday morning with an orthopedist. Hopefully he can tell me what's wrong and give me some relief. Limping my way through each day is no fun at all.

Hope all is well in your corner of the world.

A sore foot makes you tired and sore (and crabby) all over. I think it takes time but if you're like me it's not fast enough, we don't realize just how much we do in a day. Blessings, Diane

I'm so sorry to hear about your ankle! Are you taking antiinflammatories? You probably should. Ankle injuries are the worst. I do think it's a good idea to see the specialist because there could be a hair-line fracture that the other doctor did not see.Praying that you will recover quickly, my friend.
Blessings,
Sonya

I agree, but some how we have yet to master leaving all the electronic at home. Oh, wise one, teach me how. But, one thing you can count on.... The G.B. will never leave home without a hook and a ball of yarn. Aren't the doilies fun to do while traveling. Hope you ankle is back to normal real soon.

Prayers for your ankle to heal quickly and properly. Sometimes X-rays don't show what is wrong. You are so right to enjoy your holidays without the tethers of cell phones and laptops. Unplugged and joyful...

Don't hurry things, Tammy...sprained ankles really do take quite a while to heal. Makes you crazy, though--especially when you're a busy woman, as you are!

I love doing handwork while traveling, too--so comforting! Love what you made...

Wishing you a good day, my friend...keep that foot up!

Tammy, I'm so sorry your ankle doesn't seem to be improving. Know that sometimes X-rays don't always pick up a fine fracture due to tissue swelling. That happened once when I broke my collarbone in a car accident...the second X-ray showed the break. Are you using crutches? Maybe you shouldn't be putting at weight on it at all. What about an elasticated pressure bandage to help give it support??

Beautiful pictures! As always, I enjoy seeing your crochet projects and I LOVE your shell flower. Cute!

Sending you lots of healing vibes for the ankle,

Love,
Serena xo

I agree! Vacation is a time to unplug and relax. I don't even mind not having the tv to watch. I hope your ankle improves soon. I'm sure you are keeping it elevated when you can and soaking it in the evening should help some. Best wishes Tammy.

I like what you crocheted! Pretty.

I know that's the point of a vacation, but my craft is my photography and I like to have my laptop with for editing of photos while we're away and for posting. I enjoy that.

Hope you find out what's wrong with your ankle soon!! Take care and rest. ♥

Hi Tammy,
I'm so sorry your ankle is giving you so much pain, and seems to be taking it's time to heal. I'll send prayers your way to heal ASAP. It must be a wonderful thing to crochet. I really must try to learn. Wish we lived closer, so you could teach me! ;)

The Ortho. doctor may be the key.....they are quite knowledgeable in their field. It could be a hairline fracture, too.
Keep me posted. I was thinking about you today.

Dearest Tammy,

So sorry to read about your ankle, hope it will give you some relief. Some crutches would be great for not putting too much pressure on it. All day limping on it with your entire weight will not really give it much rest for healing.
You were very productive on your trips!
Love to you,

Mariette

Hi Tammy,
You really did have a bad tumble to make your ankle hurt for so long, it must be miserable trying to get around.
I always take a bit of stitching when I'm away. Love your doilies.
Hugs, Angela.
