Last Wednesday my husband had a business meeting in Dubai and asked me to tag along. Because of work and school commitments, I wasn't able to go until the next day, but definitely will never turn down a quick getaway. Dubai is such an organized, clean, well-managed country and a true pleasure to visit.
On my first night, we took our Japanese and Thai business associates and our Sri Lankan partner out for Lebanese food. It was nice to be able to sit outside for drinks and conversation afterwards since the weather there is not near as hot as Kuwait.

The next day were were able to spend an enjoyable 4-5 hours with my good friend, Maureen, from Daydream Living. We walked, and talked, enjoyed the views, and talked some more.

We went to Dubai Mall twice, where there is always something going on.

Plus, to top it all off, my best friend from Kuwait was in Dubai with her husband at the same time (totally coincidental) so we were able to hang out with them our last night. Now hubby and I are wondering when we can plan our next trip to Dubai. It is just a hop-skip and a jump away and we always have such a lovely time.

Have a great week.

Hi Tammy, seems like you had a wonderful time with friends and family in Dubai.. lovely clicks. one won't get tired of Dubai mall no matter how many times you visit.. have a great week! hugs :)

Dearest Tammy,
ReplyDeleteThose are the moments we live for and live towards for a repeat joyful get-together!
Lovely photos and the excitement comes right off your writing.
So happy for you as we all need that at times and even better if we can mix business with pleasure.
Hugs,

Dubai is most definitely on my must-visit list, it always looks so beautiful on TV and in photos.
ReplyDeleteI love Lebanese style food, as it reminds me so much of the food in Jordan. However, we had a very disappointing eating experience here in the UK recently when we went to a Lebanese restaurant, the food was edible but had been tweaked very much to the UK taste - so not authentic at all. Will stick to our usual takeaway from now on - cheap and cheerful but so tasty!

That city looks amazing - I was especially struck by how immaculately clean everything looks! And the picture with the orange boat and the highrises...wow. Of course if I was in one of your pictures, I'd be a woman with her face plastered to that aquarium wall ;)
ReplyDeleteHow nice to get such a chance and meet a best friend in coincidence! So glad you were able to have fun! Have a great week
ReplyDeleteFun to get to travel with you Tammy and with your first photo I see an app I am now curious about ;)...
ReplyDeleteA free app I forgot to mention yesterday for really easy double exposure effects is Diana Photo Free.

Well you may recall how much I loved visiting Dubai Tammy - how I wish we could have met up there! The mall is awesome, everything in Dubai is awesome, I would love to return some day, and hopefully you might be there! Glad you made the trip and wonderful you were able to meet up with old friends.
ReplyDeleteHappy day - we'll be off soon, doing a trial packing run today, only taking one suitcase and a carryon - it's going to be hard picking the right clothes to fit in!
Hugs - Mary
I am so glad you were able to get a way for a few days, and visit with friends. A trip away restores the soul. Your pictures are wonderful.

How wonderful that you were able to get away Tammy and meet up with your friend. I always find it so amazing that blogging connect us to people we would never meet in our ordinary daily life. The sun is shining here in British Columbia and I hope that your weekend is equally as lovely.

From what I hear over here it is a pretty amazing place....lots of wealth and I think they even gave quite a bit of money to one of our cities/people when they had a hurricane or devastating tornado. I can't remember which as it seems we have so many any more. I remember being so grateful to them and their kindness as we are worlds away. So glad you and Sam got to get away and enjoy yourselves. Beautiful sights and the beer and food looked good too!
ReplyDeleteWow Dubai sounds so exotic (and I understand expensive). How wonderful that you are so close and able to visit and enjoy such a wondrous place. I watch Formula 1 and that is all I know of Dubai. Lovely Travels Dear...
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful getaway! :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos - what a beautiful place, Tammy. You certainly live with a lot of adventure! Glad you are enjoying your walking. I like walking as well. I take my little dog with me but I can go a lot farther than she can (she gets too hot). Tammy, you mentioned in another post this may be your last year teaching. When you retire, will you return to the U.S.?
ReplyDeleteHugs and blessings, Beth
