Wednesday Walk

Good morning!
I headed out for a walk after breakfast.  The only one crazy enough to be out there.
Hazy skies meant that the heat was not so overbearing.  Of course, the last few blocks home were the worst.   No trees, no shade and 106 degrees (it's 113 out there now).
This row of corn used to be so tall and green but has burnt to a crisp in the heat.
I was on the hunt for rocks again and came home with three. The great thing is they don't have to be absolutely smooth or perfect since yarn can be manipulated to fit nicely no matter the shape or size.
Back home, after a quick shower, a healthy snack is necessary. Fresh cherries, raw almonds, dried fruit, organic tea or orange juice.
A great way to start the day.

Have a wonderful Wednesday.

  1. Oh, sweetie, I just don't know how you are doing this. Thanks for the story about your A.C., great reminder just how sweet we do have it here in the Chicago-land burbs. I'm going to have to start having lite breakfasts like you all soon.

  3. ROCKS! I have rocks.....you can have as many as you want!!!! Our town sits on an old river bed so there are TONS of smooth ones, too! Come on over and take some!

Have you ever had Tamari Almonds? I get them at the natural food store here and my husband LOVES them. They have a nice little 'kick' to them and aren't as hard as regular ones.

I just came in from watering....another hot one here (for us) today. Now all the plants are smiling because they got a nice bath!

You go girl.....walking in that heat! I'd be a puddle!

  6. You're such a healthy eater! :) We're not quite like that an no one eats breakfast here at our house except on rare occasion.

Good for you on going walking! I'm hoping to hit our bikes tonight but only after an afternoon floating in our pool. Perfect day for it.

    Have a nice evening,
    Linda :)

  7. Good for you, Tammy. Your walking is admirable. It's in the 90s here and hotter than a wet oven. So am I walking? Nooooo. I'm typing into my computer with the fan aimed directly at me. Hope you have a wonderful day. Susan

  11. You are wise to get outside and take an early morning walk as exercise. When I lived in a hot area my hubby and I would walk late in the evening, at 9 or 10 o'clock. Stay cool.

  12. Are you sure you are not out here, in my garden, in Texas? LOL The same heat and conditions are here! Stay cool and realax!

  17. Good heavens, you must be made of strong stuff. Walking in 106 degrees and voluntarily at that! It's just 64 degrees here at the minute. I think somewhere in between my temperature and yours would be a nice happy medium, don't you?

  21. Hi Tammy,

A lovely start to your day - always the best time to go out walking before the sun gets too hot.

Hope you manage to stay cool and enjoy the rest of the week

  22. Thank you so much for visiting my blog from your desert country far, far away. I live in the desert mountains of California, at around 4,100 feet, so it gets cool at night in the summer and snows in the winter. Summer days are around 90-100, but nearly always windy, which helps. It's been 110 here, but not often. I don't see how you can walk in that heat and hope you drink plenty of water. I think your blog is very interesting, it looks like you've been just about everywhere.

  24. You seem so disciplined about your food - good for you! (I am a real slacker when it comes to healthy snacks.)

That yoghurt-y honey photo at the top does look interesting.

  28. Oh Tammy, you are a hardworking walker! And what do you wear while walking through the street-sauna? Yesterday I thought, it's like a Sauna in Vienna, too - but may be you laugh at me: Indoors (in the office where I work) we had 30,7 degrees Celsius, and my colleagues and I felt like half-dead meat-flies ;o) I was so happy when the thunderstorm came in the evening!!! Your idea to collect stones and to crochet a "dress" for them is so lovely!
