Trying Not to Melt Away

 Condensation clings to windows.
Clouds contain moisture and the air is heavy.
I walked the first several nights of August when it was windy, dusty and hot.  But the one evening I walked in high humidity was miserable and I haven't gone out since.
So when I proclaim that I will walk (and blog) every day no matter what, just roll your eyes and say "yeh, sure".  HA!

Saturday was my craft morning meet-up.  During the summer, there's only a few of us in attendance since some are traveling and others perhaps are just hiding out at home.  The heat and humidity is quite unpleasant right now.
Mostly I am reading and crocheting.
I am still going through my books deciding what to keep and what to pass along, and since this month is Black August, an annual commemoration honoring the lives and struggles of Black revolutionaries and activists, reflecting on the contributions and sacrifices made by those who fought for racial injustice and liberation, I decided to read books by Black authors.
I bought both of these James Baldwin books a few years ago and just reread The Fire Next Time, but don't think I ever finished the second one so have started it again.  I plan to keep both of these.
I also read three of Toni Morrison's books that I've had for many years now; can't actually remember if I read them when I first bought them.  Her writing is easy to read though the subject matter is not for everyone.  I will pass them on to Susanna when she is back from the States next month.
That's about it for now.

Hoping for a break in the weather soon.
There are people who prefer humidity over dry heat, but I am not one of those people.

I have never lived with humidity...but when we visited Cinn Ohio years ago, I thought I would die!!! I'm use to dry heat, grew up in the Valley...but that's not the same as your humidity. Always enjoy you pictures and activities.
I'm reading about 3 books right now..some for study, some for my spiritual life and some for fun.

The humidity can be awful! I do most of my work outside in the morning here lately. The rest of the day is spent indoors . It is so nice that you were able to gather with your friends and enjoy crafting.

So sorry I haven't been by to see you. I've thought of you so often and wondered how you , Sam and the boys are. Are your sons still in the states? Do they have anything to worry about? Really, we should all be worried here and everywhere for the cruelty and atrocities going on in our world. I've not read Baldwin although they look good. I've tried Alice Walker and she is not for me. At my age I can't handle the realities of life on this planet. It's hot here too and I go out early to water and then I'm in for the day. I love your crochet! I'm working on a Cherry Heart JAYG solid granny squares. It's big!
Take care, stay cool and thanks for stopping by!

Yes it must be very unpleasant, my son and daughter in law say the same about Qatar, they are having to stay indoors all the time too. Your crochet is lovely, I closed my crochet group for
the Summer because nearly everyone was away, I tend to read more in the Summer anyway, light hearted easy reads 🙂

I saw a quilt done to look like a Granny Square block and I thought of you!!! The heat/humidity is very hard on my body, too.

Tammy, I am with you on the humidity issue! This summer has already been one of the more challenging of my lifetime, and the high heat and horrible humidity has been a consistent background stressor running through all the days and weeks. All my energy has gone into trying to keep everyone alive and everything functioning here. No knitting, no reading, no blogging. I've been offline since early July but am now starting to creep back, and am so happy to see all your recent posts! I love the pictures of Rosie - she must be every bit as sweet as she looks, and I'm glad you and your husband have her in your lives. My cats give me so much joy.
