Highlights From Our Trip

Friday, a week ago, we departed in the dark early morning hours from Kuwait and arrived to our destination late at night in the dark.
Malaysia is 5 hours ahead of us which means while we were there, we were 14 hours ahead of our oldest son who is in Colorado.
Kuala Lumpur is a bustling city by day and by night.
On our first day, we were scheduled to take the Genting Skyway.  It turned out to be a very foggy morning.
And was so cold and windy on top of the mountain.
Each morning we enjoyed the most delicious fresh fruit.
By night there were street performers who would pose for a small donation.
Petrona Twin Towers are a famous landmark in Kuala Lumpur.
The world's largest free flight aviary is found at the Kuala Lumpur Bird Park.
The view from our room at Sunway Lagoon Resort which is located in Petaling, Jaya.
The front of the hotel and surrounding area at night is like Las Vegas with all the lights and over the top displays.
The Istana Negara, or National Palace, is the official residence of the king.
We stopped off for a tour of the Royal Selangor Pewter Factory and tried our hand at hammering.
Climbed 272 steps up to Batu Caves, a Hindu Temple and Shrine.
And walked around Merdeka (Independence) Square.
It is here that the Union Flag was lowered and the Malayan Flag hoisted for the first time at midnight on August 31, 1957.
We had to cancel our two-day side trip to Langkawi because of a slight health problem my husband encountered.  With the change in plans, we did the best we could to enjoy our time.  We arrived back home Thursday night and the unpacking and washing of clothes began immediately.  Back to school tomorrow.

Hope each and every one of you is having a fabulous day!
Best wishes,

  6. Hello dear Tammy
I hope your husband is feeling OK now - it's awful having health issues when travelling.

I've had a stop-over at KL airport on my way to France once.
There wasn't really enough time to go out and about.
From your photos it looks like an interesting place to spend time.
I don't know about that many steps though! Just as well you keep up your walking T!!
    hugs

  8. Every time you go to a new place, I look at your photos and imagine myself there! Such a beautiful and lively area and the street performer is nicely green! Love that you got to hike the steps and hammer pewter (now that those are things I'd do) and that you had a birds eye view from your hotel.
    Hope hubby is ok.
    Hugs

  9. You visit such amazing places. Everything looks so exotic & interesting ... temples, palace, statues ... wow! We saw similar street performers in Barcelona last summer. Very creative and realistic, and the performers had a great sense of humour. Hope your husband is feeling better now and the laundry is finished! Wendy x

  12. Dearest Tammy,
Happy, happy wedding anniversary to you both! Hope your husband is feeling fit again and that the slight health problem did not cause any consequences.
Oh, this would have been great for being there; speaking the language and knowing the culture and the food...
Great that you got to visit the famous Royal Selangor Pewter Factory! We have candle holders from them and they are the world's best quality. If you type the word Selangor in my search box at the top right on my blog you get to them; two posts I did show them in.
Happy new week to you and above all; good health.
I'm steadily recovering from major surgery (Oct. 7) and will be fine within the given 6 weeks. Good news was that the complex tumor was no cancer!
    Hugs,
    Mariette

  19. Great photos! You travel a lot, Tammy. You are very lucky. Hope your hubby's health issues have resolved. On our recent trip to Gwalior my hubby too developed health problems and we weren't able to cover all the places that we had intended to.

  21. Tammy dear, shame you missed Langkawi - we had a great visit there - hopefully hubby is OK now.

Kuala Lumpur we also found very interesting although we only had a day to squeeze everything in - looks like you made great use of time. Hot though isn't it? You are more used to it I'm certain, for us it was rather stifling but we try to persevere so we can enjoy these lovely, exotic, historic places!

Hope your weekend is going well - lovely day here, Fall is special when the nights cool off, then the morning sun is brilliant and the trees are changing.

Thanks s always for your lovely comments.
    Hugs - Mary

  25. These are the most amazing photos T. Thank you for sharing them because I just love to see places I may never be able to see in person. You are so darling standing there with (greenie). I loved the temple stairs and I'm sure I could climb them if I never ever had to come down again :)))))) I'm a little scared of heights but only when I am walking (if that makes sense) If I am on horseback I can be on the highest mountain peak and it doesn't seem to phase me. Weird.

What a wonderful trip this must have been.
    sending hugs from here...

  33. Enjoyed reading and seeing photos of your latest adventure. :) The skyway ride reminded me of the one in Gatlinburg up the mountain, which luckily was out of service the day we were going to take it because I don't like suspended heights like that and wasn't keen on going - I only agreed to go because my family wanted to, but oh well... we didn't get to on the trip there this summer. Darn. ;)

The street performers who would pose for a nominal charge reminded me of the ones in Times Square, but we were too cheap to pay them just for a photo, so we only snuck photos when they weren't looking, lol.

Anyway, it looks like you had a wonderful time outside of your husband's health issue.

No travel here for us except for small daily trips- my whole world pretty much revolves around Sarah's Senior year activities and it's another busy band competition weekend coming up along with our travel to both ends of the state - since we're also going to a Halloween costume party that evening after the competition.

Hope you are enjoying a nice week.
