A Time of Change

I cannot believe it is already the month of May.
The past couple of weeks have been a period of change and adjustment.
Live and learn as they say.
Everything happens for a reason and there's always a lesson to be learned.
I am still walking every day.
Since temperatures are still comfortable in the morning and late afternoon,
I must take advantage of it while I can.
In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks.
~John Muir

Have also been spending lots of time reading.
I've been vegetarian for about 5 years now.
And several weeks ago gave up dairy.
A new month.
Lots of changes.
All for the good.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend.

  2. "All for the good" sounds, well, very good! I'm glad you can find comfortable times for walking each day, and taking photographs, The flowers are lovely! Do you know the name of the first white flower, with the yellow centers? It looks like it is calling to the bees!

  8. Pretty photos. And, I love that quote by John Muir. He was a great man.

I gave up dairy last year and I don't ever plan to go back. It's made such a difference in how I feel. I didn't think I could do it because I loved cheese and ice cream so much but after a while I lost the taste for it. Now it just sounds gross. I hope it works out great for you too.

    Have a beautiful weekend!

  13. You have a good attitude for whatever is happening in your life right now. My daughter is going thru some stuff and I have explained to her just how a good walk (especially in nature) can help you.
The flowers are gorgeous and you are having nice weather like us. I feel for those who are still getting so much snow.
    Take care Tammy.

  16. I am trying to walk every day, it helps to change my thoughts and clear the negative out. It is finally nice enough to enjoy walking and look for new blooming plants. I looked back through a few posts and I really enjoyed the quote about walking being better than medicine or psychology.

  23. Hope you'll be OK, Tammy. Helps to clear your mind a bit by walking, doesn't it? Giving up dairy, wow, that's hard. I love yogurt and pizza...and in the summer, ice cream! I don't drink or use cow's milk though. When I have cereal, I use almond milk.

  24. Hi Tammy...Yep, change is a constant for all of us. Some changes are harder to take than others, I think.

They say "change is good." Sometimes, however, it doesn't feel good.

Hope you get through all the changes with flying colors.

Glad you are walking. Took three of them this week with my grandbaby! Susan

  31. Hello Tammy,
I too have found that walking helps to clear away the cobwebs in my head and adjust to change. It's not always easy.
I have been thinking of you this week as I embark on some crochet, just granny squares to make a scarf but delicious colours.
Keep your chin up my friend.
    Sending you smiles and hugs,

  34. Dearest Tammy,
    Lovely photos!
As for dairy, I only eat Greek yogurt with 0% fat and it feels good. Most of the time we eat vegetarian too; for health reasons. Hope you have adjusted to your changes; it always is tough at first!
Hugs to you - got back from our 10 days CuraƧao with daughter Liz and husband Hans. Now adjusting to the cooler weather with lots of rain in Georgia...

  36. I think you will do well with giving up dairy. I cheat every now and then, but I gave up dairy a couple years ago after being told I had high cholesterol, and it has made me feel a lot better. My skin doesn't break out anymore either which is a great added benefit.

Those books look interesting. I've heard of that first one and wanted to read it for a while now, but the 2nd one looks good as well.

  44. Hi Tammy,

Just been hopping around a few posts of yours...When Ikaria was featured in 'The Blue Zones', I was extremely grateful for living in a landscape very similar, with a similar diet and lifestyle, here on Crete. I love plumeria flowers; they have such a heavenly scent, don't they? Planted one in my front garden, waiting to see how it goes. Your posts are always filled with so much inspiration; thanks for sharing!

  45. I believe so to. You just have to accept all that happens and make the best of it.

I hope I can start walking everyday too when the heat arrives. It´s rainy and dusty here and no summerweather at all for the moment.

I wish you a great day!
