Walking for Wisdom

Above all, do not lose your desire to walk.  Every day I walk myself into a state of well-being and walk away from every illness.  I have walked myself into my best thoughts, and I know of no thought so burdensome that one cannot walk away from it.
~Soren Kierkegaard

A vigorous five-mile walk will do more good for an unhappy but otherwise healthy adult than all the medicine and psychology in the world.
~Paul Dudley White

After a day's walk everything has twice its usual value.
~George Macauley Trevelyan
A personal matter has required my attention this past week.
Clarity was needed so many walks were taken.
I hope to strike a balance soon.
Blessings,

  1. What wise words. A friend of mine who is approaching her seventies has a slight variation on this - when there is something on her mind she pulls out her old fashioned rotary mower and mows her (rather large!) lawn - if she is still pondering she then rolls it as well. She says she has figured out more problems this way than any other! Jane x

  10. Best wishes to you, Tammy! Your photos and quotes gave me a new perspective on the value of simply walking (my best thoughts arrive in the shower, an activity which certainly does not lend itself to photos nor quotes!).

  15. Such beautiful scenes --- and I loved your quotes. I agree that walking does much to change one's perspective. Getting started on a walk is sometimes hard for me (delay tactics) but once I start and complete the task I am so glad I did.

I hope that this coming week is a good one.

  30. Hi Tammy,
I love your quotes on this post, Walking definitely feeds the soul and allows time for contemplation.
The eldest lady running in the London marathon was 88 years old and when asked how she kept so fit said ''I just walk everywhere'' Enough said!!
I hope you have had time to clear your head...
    Sending you hugs and smiles,

  36. Hi Tammy,
I hope you find the peace and wisdom you need this week. You know I love walking.

My sister Ann is down for a week, and we enjoyed a 4 mile walk thus far. Busy days here with the end of the school year fast approaching. This weekend was Sarah's Junior Prom (Anthony's Senior Prom), and that's a huge to do here. I have lots of wonderful photos, but they're all on my facebook albums. If you ever want to see them, just email me and I'll make the album public for that short time so you can see them as well (you don't have to have an account there to do that). And then I'll return the privacy to private after you've viewed them.

    Kind regards,
    Linda

  37. Hi Tammy - was away this weekend actually walking in Philadelphia.

It will always be a privilege to be able to walk, and I'm thankful I can still do it without pain or difficulty. I pray that I will always have the use of my legs. The wonders of the world need to be viewed and enjoyed on foot much of the time - and even the little strolls around our neighborhoods are better than driving. Who would want to miss seeing the tiny bits of hidden beauty everywhere!

    Hugs - Mary

  40. I love all the walking quotes and it is all true! I tell people all the time who complain about being "down" or "depressed" or struggling with an issue but do they listen? NO! Sometimes I just think there are some who get pleasure from being a "victim" and most are petty issues not terrible tragedies. The ones who truly suffer do so in silence most of the time...those are the ones my heart goes out to. I hope you resolve whatever is troubling you sweetie. I'm here if you need me. If you ever email me though, let me know on my blog as I don't always access my email...it's a mess! LOL!
Take care and I will say a prayer for you and your family.

  43. Hi Tammy,

Your chosen quotes and images on walking are truly inspiring and invigorating! I used to be an avid walker, but have slacked off and a lot of that is due to blogging! As a result, I have packed on some extra pounds, but more importantly lost out on the peace and wisdom that come with each and every step.

I hope that each step you take this week brings you closer to the wisdom you wish for in this particular issue.

    Poppy
